![]() Sunday, 31st May 2009 08:51 Jaime Peters won his 16th full Canada cap as his side beat Cyprus 1-0 in a friendly in Larnaca on Saturday evening. Gillingham's Simeon Jackson, linked with a move to the Blues in January, scored the goal on his international debut. Peters played in midfield from the start but was replaced in the 89th minute as caretaker-coach Stephen Hart sought to give as many members of his squad as possible a run-out. The 22-year-old, who was previously capped in June last year, was out to impress Hart enough to be included in his squad for the CONCACAF Gold Cup in the USA this summer. The Canadians face Jamaica, El Salvador and Costa Rica in the group stages of the competition in early July after a further friendly with Guatemala on June 30th. Involvement in the tournament will see Peters miss the start of pre-season training with Town.
