McAuley: Leicester Defender Would Be Good Signing
McAuley: Leicester Defender Would Be Good Signing

Skipper Gareth McAuley says Patrick Kisnorbo, his former central defensive partner at Leicester, would be an excellent addition to the Town squad.

Kisnorbo was linked with the Blues and Crystal Palace yesterday, having been released by the Foxes at the end of the season.

McAuley said: "Patrick would be a good acquisition. A lot of Premier League clubs were looking at him at one time and [first team coach] Tony [Loughlan] would know all about him.

"We had a good understanding and it was a good partnership despite Leicester's relegation to League One.”

Loughlan was a coach with Leicester's academy until joining Roy Keane at Sunderland in 2006, a year after Kisnorbo had moved to the Walkers Stadium from Hearts.

Elsewhere, former Blue Shefki Kuqi is reported to have signed a deal with German second division side Koblenz, the club where his brother Njazi, a one-time Town trialist, currently plies his trade. The Finnish international was out of contract at Crystal Palace at the end of the season but had been offered a new one-year deal at Selhurst Park.

Kuqi's old Town striker partner Darren Bent is being linked with a summer move to Sunderland from Spurs.
