![]() Friday, 5th Jun 2009 12:05 Scunthorpe boss Nigel Adkins has revealed that he has held further talks with Liam Trotter's agent regarding a permanent move to Glanford Park. Trotter, who has been offered a new deal at Portman Road, spent the latter part of last season on loan with the Iron. Adkins says he has not given up hope of signing Trotter and reports in North Lincolnshire claim the terms on offer at Town fall below the midfielder's expectations. The Scunthorpe manager says he is hopeful that the 20-year-old can be persuaded to leave his hometown club: "We know that Ipswich have offered Liam a new deal, but he knows there is something for him here too. "It is up to him to decide where his future is. The situation is a bit delicate at the moment but I have had a further talk with his agent and hopefully the door is still open for us." Trotter would be more likely to win a regular first team role with the Iron next season, but may feel remaining at Portman Road is a better option for his career long-term. If Trotter were to leave Town, the club would be entitled to compensation as he is under-24 and has been offered a contract.
