McAuley Unsure Whether He'll Keep Armband

Central defender Gareth McAuley is as yet unsure whether he will skipper the Blues during 2009/10. McAuley took the armband last summer after he joined Town from Leicester with Jason De Vos having retired.

McAuley said: "I don't know what will happen now. It is the manager's choice. I would obviously want to carry on as it is an honour but we will have to see what happens.

"It is his preference as to whom he wants as his captain, so we will see. The manager will bring in his own players, so it could be he brings in someone else or decides on someone else that is already here.”

McAuley is continuing his recovery from the knee ligament injury he suffered during training in the final week of the season. The Northern Irishman is hopeful that he will get back into action when pre-season training starts a week ahead of the first friendly against Finn Harps in Ireland on July 7th.

Elsewhere, Bristol City are reported to have made a £1.5 million offer to Manchester United for winger Lee Martin, who is also believed to be on Town's summer wish-list. Talks between the Robins and the player are said to be starting.

City have also revealed that midfielder Marvin Elliott, another player linked with the Blues, has agreed to sign a new contract at Ashton Gate. Elliott was also believed to be interesting Wolves, West Brom and Sunderland.

And Lincoln City winger Dany N'Guessan is reported to have confirmed that he has agreed to join Leicester City rather than any of the other clubs, including Town, who have been tracking him.
