Ainsley Signs Deal

TWTD understands that defender Jack Ainsley signed his one-year professional contract with the Blues on Friday.

The defender or striker, whose father and brother both played for Town youth sides, signed the deal despite interest from a number of Premier League clubs.

Ainsley was one of two academy players offered professional deals at the end of last season, along with Bermudian international winger Reggie Lambe, who is yet to put pen to paper on his contract.

Lambe has also been interesting several Premier League sides, but recently confirmed that will be signing his deal with Town: "I've not signed the contract yet but I will do when I return to the England for pre-season training.

"We still need to discuss how long the contract will be and my salary. It's good that we've got a new manager and he knows how to take care of his players.”

Elsewhere, former Blue Ian Westlake is on trial trial with League One Wycombe Wanderers and played in their 1-0 friendly victory over AFC Wimbledon this afternoon.

Westlake left Oldham at the end of the season after joining them on a short-term deal during Joe Royle's short spell back at Boundary Park.
