Celtic have now emerged as favourites to win the race for Hassan Kachloul. Despite comments last night from his agent, it seems the Glasgow club have indeed expressed formal interest in the Moroccan. Kachloul himself is reported to have made up his mind, with Celtic seeming his most likely choice.

The mysterious "big English club" mentioned in reports last night seems to have disappeared as agent Eric Castanino now says that two English clubs, probably Town and Derby, and Celtic are the only ones involved: "There's three British clubs interested, two of which are Derby and Celtic. As one of the three clubs is clearly a very big club he would prefer to join them. Obviously, if a move to that club doesn't materialise then he will have to choose between the other two."

George Burley said last night: "Nothing has changed as far as we're concerned. We made him and offer nearly two weeks ago and we wanted to know his answer as soon as possible. Hopefully we will hear within the next 48 hours. It is a decision for Hassan and we can understand him taking his time. With so many clubs interested in him he wants to see what his best option is."

It seems that the lure of Celtic and Champions' League football may force George Burley to look elsewhere for that elusive attacking midfielder once more.

Wimbledon's Jason Euell has been linked with Town this morning. The striker is also reported to be a target of Sunderland and Charlton.

Given his £6 million price-tag and Town's surfeit of strikers we can't see this one happening.

George Burley has welcomed Premiership referees. From this season our beloved men in black will receive up to £60,000 a year for showing off their skills.

The Town boss said: "It is a step forward for referees and English football in general. They play a key role in the game. It is a professional game so it is right referees and their assistants are also professional."

He also welcomed referees to Portman Road: "We will welcome any referees ro Portman Road to help in their training which has to be better than just watching videos."

Town have allayed concern amongst some Away Match Passport holders that next season's European matches might count amongst the allowed three missed games. Although holders will get priority these games will not count as mised matches.

Town's Customer Service Manager Richard Powell told TWTD: "Away Match Passport holders will be given priority on these matches but obviously these matches will not be looked upon as 'normal'

away matches. Apart from anything else not everybody will want to, or be able to afford to go."
