McCarthy Joins Wigan Tuesday, 21st Jul 2009 19:18 Hamilton Academical midfielder James McCarthy, watched by Town boss Roy Keane towards the end of last season, has joined Wigan Athletic. The Latics and Wolves had both agreed a fee with the SPL side. McCarthy has signed a four-year contract after making the move for £1.2 million rising to £3 million depending on appearances. Elsewhere, former Blues keeper Andy Marshall is on trial with Jim Magilton's QPR. Ex-Town full-back Michael Synnott has joined Shelbourne from Dundalk on loan until the end of the Irish season.
