![]() Monday, 27th Jul 2009 09:05 Boss Roy Keane has praised Jordan Rhodes after the striker scored the Blues' second goal in the 2-0 victory over Colchester on Saturday. The Town manager also revealed that he turned down a bid for the 19-year-old earlier in the summer. Keane told the club site: "When Jordan went through on goal you think he's going to score all day long and that's a nice thing to have. He looks a natural goalscorer. "When I took over I received a lot of phone calls about him and we did turn down one offer for him, but he's in the group on merit. "As much as I take feedback from my staff, I judge players with what I see with my own eyes and he couldn't do a lot more at the moment. "There's been talk about strikers here, but if he keeps putting the ball in the back of the net then that will do the talking for me. "He's only a young lad and there is a hell of a lot he has to improve on, but his attitude and workrate has been spot on." Rhodes's former loan club Brentford have already revealed that they enquired regarding the frontman's availability on loan at the recent pre-season friendly between the two sides. Meanwhile, Saturday's testimonial man Fabian Wilnis says he enjoyed his big day: "The whole atmosphere was brilliant and it is something I will cherish for the rest of my life. "The half-time game was very enjoyable and getting on for the last 11 minutes with the real team was great fun. I felt at home, it was as if I have never been away it felt so natural.†Town legend Sir Bobby Robson was given a UEFA Lifetime Achievement Award at last night's charity game between a team mainly made up of his 1990 World Cup England side and Germany at St James' Park.
