Burley Wants More Buys
Burley Wants More Buys

Town manager George Burley is after more players and suspects he may have to break the club's £4.5 million transfer record to do so. Burley yesterday saw Hassan Kachloul agree to join Town, reportedly on a three year contract, but the strengthening for Europe doesn't seem to have stopped there.

Burley said: "There are other players who interest me. And we can’t kid ourselves — at some point we will probably create a new transfer record. We have now managed to bring in two players — Pablo Couñago and Hassan Kachloul — on free transfers but the way the transfer market is going we are also going to have to be prepared to pay for the players we want."

The Town manager clearly has his targets, but it seems he is going to wait and take another look at them: "There are one or two who particularly interest me and I want to see them in pre-season games before I do any more. And to get the quality we are after, to carry on improving, it could well be necessary to pay a new record fee. I wouldn’t rule it out."

Despite the signing of Kachloul another midfielder might be a target while a new centre-half would not be a surprise with John Scales leaving at the end of the season and Tony Mowbray hanging up his boots.

Today is the last chance to add your goodwill message to Tony Mowbray and his new bride, who get married at the weekend. We also have a new Town Topic on the Kachloul signing. Do you think it was a good deal? For both, click links on the Message Board: http://www.twtd.co.uk/messages
