TWTD Prediction League 2009-10
TWTD Prediction League 2009-10
Thursday, 6th Aug 2009 16:54

It’s that time again! The first match of the season kicks off on Sunday and we’d like you to register your predictions on the TWTD Prediction League 2009/10.

It’s the same basic competition we’ve been running since August 2000. You predict the score and first scorer of each match and you get points based on your accuracy. You get three points if you get the scoreline spot on plus a bonus of the number of goals in that game (so an accurate prediction of 1-3 would get you three points and a bonus of four). If you don’t get the score right but correctly guess it will be an away win, for example, you’ll be awarded one point. The Prediction League only covers league matches.

The overall winner of the competition will receive £150 of Amazon vouchers.

To get started, go to our Prediction League page and enter your predictions for Sunday's game at Coventry. You can make any number of predictions for a match, but only the last one will count. So, if we do sign a prospective 20-goal striker tomorrow, just log in and change your prediction!

On the basis of picking the person you think is going to score first I have two questions-
If you predict 0-0, and the result is 0-0, do you get the point for correct first scorer by default? (Not that I think anyone will be predicting 0-0)
And also, if you think the opposition will score first, regardless of the end result, can you pick one of their players as first scorer, or are we only predicting first Town scorer?

Cheers guys

For TractorBoyDan: If you predict 0-0 and enter "no scorer" as the first scorer, then yes you do get 2 points for the scorer and 3 points for the correct scoreline. This is why we introduced the bonus points of the number of goals in the game. This "rewards" those that correctly guess high-scoring matches.
