Town chairman David Sheepshanks has commented on Town's first day fixture with Sunderland and added to his earlier comments on the Richard Wright situation.

The Town chairman said of the Sunderland game: "It's a tricky fixture. We got beaten there twice within a matter of days last season. So we'll need to improve on that.It won't worry us too much. We're looking forward to it."

And of Town's task for the season he said: "We need to show that we are not just a flash in the pan."

And despite the likely loss of Richard Wright he promised that August would see Town with greater strength: "Come the beginning of the season we'll have a stronger squad."

As for who might be in goal for Town on the first day Sheepshanks is playing a waiting game: "We'll wait and see. The Richard Wright deal not done and dusted. We've certainly got contingency plans."

Arsenal say the deal will be completed in early July when Wright returns from his holiday in Cyprus.
