Clegg: Keane Under No Additional Pressure
Clegg: Keane Under No Additional Pressure
Wednesday, 30th Sep 2009 15:30

Chief executive Simon Clegg says manager Roy Keane is under no additional pressure due to the Blues’ poor start to the season. The Blues currently sit bottom of the Championship and are yet to win a league game.

Clegg said: “There’s been absolutely no change in the situation. Roy and I continue to work very closely together. The three-way relationship between Marcus, Roy and myself is as strong today as it was in the close season. There’s been no change to that.

“But I’m not in any way trying to shy away from the fact that it’s been a hugely disappointing start. The fans deserve better, want better and I can assure you that it’s not through lack of effort on Roy’s part or the team’s part that we’re not delivering

“The manager is under no additional pressure, he’s a man who puts pressure on himself, he knows what he has to achieve.

“I continue to be confident that he will achieve that and that there will be a turning of tide over the next couple of games, and particularly if last night is anything to go by when I saw some really encouraging football.”

Bluesky ,nice story ,but i think it was probably a night that was disturbed .....however, Perhaps Sir Bobby , will emit some ''force '', and we will stick goals in that end like they are going out of fashion .COYB

The team scored 3 at Sheff utd....when have we ever done that?
I have been to Sheff utd and its not an easy place to go to.
I think you have to take the positives out of that game.
The fans HAVE to get behind the team and be as loud as possible for the players.
Barnsley wont be easy as they beat West Brom but i feel we can win it.
Stop the slagging now as it wont help!

I will admit to being diassapointed with the draw last night, however, had I been asked before kick off if I would take draw I would have said yes and been half way back to PR before remembering to say thank you.

Yes we are making silly individual errors and as part of the goal keepers union I'll defend R Wright as he has kept us in most games this season.

In my opinion a settled back four for two games running may help to iron out some of these errors, but I do feel we need a loan CB and sooner rather than later.

I beleive that we are about to turn the corner and about the deepest thing I can think to say tonight is this...... I felt slightly embarrassed on Saturday when some fellow members of the stand I sit in began to taunt the Newcastle fans with cries of "we didin't sack SIr Bobby". No, we didn't. We gave him time and allowed him to build the team he wanted, a team the likes of which we may not see again.

While I am not advocating that Roy is as good a manager as Sir Bob (yet??), I would like to say this, get behind the team, stop the incesscent bickering between ourselves, sing your hearts out for the lads and who knows? I think we are one bit of luck away from building a season that can see us become a premiership team again, maybe not this season I'll grant you but maybe next.
Give the manager and the team your support now, lest one day we face opposition fans singing "we didn't sack Roy Keane"!

Oh, and one last thing, the guy sitting in my row who spends 85 minutes of every home game telling our own players how bad they are.......shut up, you are really boring the sh1t out of me now!

Forest had the same points total as us at this stage last season (5 from 10 games - see http://www.statto.com/football/stats/england/league-championship/2008-2009/table

The other bottom 3 clubs were Doncaster and Barnsley. All made it to safety, although it was a long hard slog for most of the season. We had 12 points at this stage last season and with a bit more luck against Coventry, Doncaster and Sheffield Utd we'd have a points haul of at least 10.

Ok, so it's still not that impressive, but there is time to recover. Not losing to Barnsley looks pretty crucial now though.

I think prozach hasn't got a clue I'm afraid. Get a CB to play alongside Bruce? This assumes that Bruce is any good... McAuley would be my pick at centre half and I believe that another centre half should be brought in on loan. Bruce (when fit) should take his rightful place on the bench and give the captain's armband to Walters - perhaps our best / hardest working player. Tommy Smith and Pim are the future perhaps - but I'm afraid the future is now and we can't wait foe 2 or 3 years until they mature. Unless I'm mistaken, there was talk about getting a loan player this week. Let's see.

And as for scoring 3 at Bramhall Lane Mr Nobby Clark, we did so in the FA Cup - came back from 3 nil down to make it 3 all, only for Paul Pissysolido (spelling?) to score a late winner. Decent game though.

Make no mistake October could be the make or break month for us. I am not too confident about Saturday (Especially if we have added to the back line) as Barnsley have turned the corner but the next two home games are must win and we as fans MUST ALL PULL IN THE SAME DIRECTION. We need to turn up in numbers and get PR rocking. Win those two games and it could all change if we don't I fear the worst. First things first we must not lose on Saturday even if we don't win.

To Quote Clegg:
''I can assure you that it's not through lack of effort on Roy's part or the team's part that we're not delivering''

It don't take a brain surgeon to work that one out; there are only 2 elements which make up the equation.... Roy Keane or the Players!!!!

If it's not they're fault then who the f*ck's fault is it that were not delivering.......the kit man??

Firstly i do not believe Roy should go until at least mid Nov when he has had a number of games against the lower sides in the league if we are in the same position then i think it will be time for a change ,just because it is early on means nothing look at Spurs last year no wins in 9 games Harry comes in and nearly gets them in Europe ,Barnsley get Robins in results change even beating West Brom. All this talk of gelling is just an excuse all teams change personel in pre season/transfer window why is it taking so long for us to gel ?
Also i dont want Jim back, but magic has taken over a new team sold players got loans in and even got a result at (premier league Newcastle !!!!!) where is his gelling time ? QPR were lower than us in the league last year played off the park by us home and away but are looking a good bet for promotion where as we are bottom with an ever changing team, players isolated and told they are not wanted having conceded the most amount of goals in the league, this is not progression however anyone wants to look at it but in five games time we could be pushing the playoffs and everyone will be happy again (well maybe not everyone) so lets get behind the team and Roy until things improve or the management changes and we get behind the new manager .

I don't think that RK has ever ducked responsibility for the current situation. He has clearly and rightly indicated that his job is on the line. No Chairman (or CEO) is going to come out and say 'The manager has this many games to turn it around or he's out'. Has anyone ever heard a Chairman say that?

ME,SC and RK are all big boys and know what the situation is. ME and SC will be looking for improvement and it's RKs job to deliver it on the pitch with their support. If things don't improve then RK will be out. What none of us know is how long he has to show that improvement. My guess that his target now is to be clear of the relegation zone by Xmas. Which I'd be happy with, right now.

any news/rumours on the loan signings?? Saturday is fast approaching and we desperately need to plug that defence! It seems week in week out we are told that the signings are 'close' then another week goes by. Trust me i am all for us doing well, not a doom munger like some, but keen to sort out the issues so we can move on and up!

I will be the first to admit if I am wrong and would be just as happy and pro keane if he wa to lift us up the league table.
Just cant see it myself - our team is poor and we cant beat anyone - couldnt even fcukin beat shrewsbury in league 2 - does that stat sound like a team who can start climbing the league! The longer we stay donw here the longer it will take the players to gel all the while there morale getting lower and lower.
Hope im wrong

I think we are all waiting to see whether our first win (and it will come soon) will see a surge in confidence and a rapid move up the table or will it be followed by another poor performance (like Newscatle following on from Doncaster).
