Clegg Still Backing Keane
Clegg Still Backing Keane
Wednesday, 21st Oct 2009 15:19

Chief executive Simon Clegg has again backed manager Roy Keane to turn around the Blues’ fortunes. Clegg says the situation hasn’t altered despite Town failing to win in their first 13 league games.

The chief executive said: “Roy's position is exactly the same now as it was at the start of the season. His team is improving with every game and it was a massively positive performance last night.

“But consistent with the season we are having so far, we conceded yet another late goal.”

Clegg was also impressed with the fans: “They were fantastic again. They were chanting his name and are right behind Roy. They are confident he will get it right, and so am I.”

Meanwhile, Town are waiting on news of the injury Jon Walters suffered towards the end of last night’s game. The striker was replaced by Alan Quinn for the final few minutes after limping off.

OK we put in a good performance last night, but what are you going to say if we are still in the same position come Xmas. In Keanne we trust !!! Do you trust him to get us out of the 1st Division.

Fair enough a clear message. I was one of the many that were wrong and ME is not an impatient man after all. Good. No point moaning about Keane. Let's get that win then and move on to the blue sun lit uplands.... or words to that effect.

I have been a life long Town supporter through some bad times and good. I was born the year we won the FA Cup etc...

I have watched every home game and half the away games this season and what I have noticed is when the fans get behind the team (away support magnificent in particular), the confidence starts flowing through the team.

We have played some good stuff in parts of those games but last night we looked class for alot of the game and looked more solid especially in defence. I'm unsure if Smith can last the season being so young but he's growing with each game. Mcauley seems to be picking up form again, just a shame he has taken a long time like last season.

Leadbitter is good on the ball in midfield and the right wing link up with Rosenier and Edwards looks dangerous everytime we come forward at pace. I still question Trotter but we do need some height in midfield. Pablo is first on team sheet in my mind along with Walters, the support both got last night when they came off was fantastic.

I would rather see Peters in than Martin at present but again its all confidence, a few wins and I think Martin will start to put in a few goals.

I like others was a little nervous when Keane was appointed after his departure from Sunderland. However, I have seen the team grow in strength and can see what he is trying to build and support him 110% and the team. Despite being in the position we are in, we are starting to play decent football, the wins will come and the fans need to keep the support going.

ME will decide RK's fate based on performance. SCs comments just reflect that fact - i.e ME (through SC) will publicily back RK, unless there comes a point where he decides to change things.

The banter on this site won't have any impact on that decision.

callumgarryskeemer - why do you keep singling me out? I have no problem debating with anti-Keanites if they have intelligent and principled arguments to put forward, as many of them do. But you never actually say anything other than 'Keane out' or you just insult people. Which is why I have a problem with you - you DON'T actually say anything much worthwhile. Fine, you have your opinions - I don't have a problem with that. I DO have a problem with your wind-up attitude however, which is annoying a lot of other people on here, and not just me.

So if you have something to say - say it. If you put forward an argument - we can counter it and debate it. It's called ADULT DISCUSSION. Try it some time.

Or like others have said, you may just be a budgie in disguise, in which case you are the most qualified of any of us to talk about League 1 ......
