Wickham Nets England Hat-Trick

Town striker Connor Wickham netted a first-half hat-trick as England’s U17s defeated hosts Azerbaijan 4-0 in their second UEFA European U17 Championship qualifying group game earlier today.

The 16-year-old opened the scoring on 18, added a penalty on the half hour and made it 3-0 in the 39th minute.

The frontman, who was winning his sixth U17 cap, was replaced on 66 by Arsenal’s Benik Afobe, who added England's fourth moments after coming on.

England won their opening game 6-2 against Kazakhstan on Monday, Wickham creating one but failing to score himself, and complete their fixtures with a match against Serbia on Saturday.

That's just doubled his price. As soon as he signs his professional contract one a Prem Team will be in for him as a gamble. I do hope I'm wrong as he's one for the future, I hope our future.

COYB... 3 pts coming up.

He is about the only player at this club with real potential. It would be crazy to let him go.

On the debate about Bowditch and Clarke: Wickham has one big advantage over those boys - he's BIG. They were sharp little seventeen year-olds but it helps you have a bit of brawn when you start playing against the big boys.
