3.5 Million For Scowcroft Wednesday, 11th Jul 2001 11:22 As reported this morning it seems James Scowcroft will be on his way to Leicester City before the start of the new season. And it now appears £3.5 million is the price which takes the 25-year-old away from his local club. It seems Town are waiting on a replacement for the striker or midfielder with it likely that the deal would already have gone through had Hassan Kachloul signed for the Blues. If Town fail to find a replacement then Leicester will have to look elsewhere. Leicester manager Peter Taylor has been an admirer of Scowcroft since his days as England U21 manager and last season tried to sign the blonde striker. Taylor played Scowcroft in his U21 side in attack, something that could have had an important bearing on his impending move. Scowcroft, it is thought, has become unhappy with his lack of first team opportunities at Portman Road, and even when he has played it has been in his less favoured position on the right of midfield. Scowcroft has made 200 starts for Town with another 56 games as sub. In that time he has scored 55 goals. This morning's visitors to the TWTD website have generally reacted negatively to the news that Scowcroft is leaving with a massive 94% of fans voting against him leaving. There will be a Town Topic running on the story (up in a couple of minutes), click the link on the Message Board: http://www.twtd.co.uk/messages class="storytext">Former Town trainee and Southampton and West Ham player Richard Hall has joined Town's Academy.
