Lisbie Linked With Palace
Lisbie Linked With Palace
Saturday, 2nd Jan 2010 08:27

Striker Kevin Lisbie has been linked with a possible move to Crystal Palace. The former Charlton man is due back from his loan spell at Colchester after the U’s FA Cup game at Preston North End today.

Lisbie appears less than happy to be returning to Portman Road with Colchester interested in signing him permanently, although manager Aidy Boothroyd admits his club would struggle to pay the fee wanted by the Blues or to manage the 31-year-old’s wages.

Town boss Roy Keane says other clubs have been in touch regarding Lisbie and Palace are said to be one of them.

However, the Eagles failed to pay their players for the fourth time this season last Thursday and appear to be in significant financial trouble, meaning a mass exodus during the transfer window is far more likely than any new signings.

Elsewhere, Swindon boss Danny Wilson says there’s no truth to reports that Town, Nottingham Forest and Derby are keeping an eye on striker Charlie Austin: “He’s the flavour of the month at the moment and this attention is like the stuff players in the Premiership get every week. Obviously there’s nothing in it whatsoever.”

Nah I wouldn't personally have either, how about we make a swap deal more worthwhile like we give them lisbie and they give us ambrose or victor moses

Lisbie and some money for Moses would be the best deal ever.

Would be great to av Moses but it would never happen plus I hear Wigan are targeting a move for him a straight swap for stern or lee would be more realistic I think

Moses will not be swapped. hes valued at 6 million according to Jordan, lisbie isnt worth 250k. After boxing day i wish palace all the doom and gloom possible.

Palace are hoping to get £5million for Moses, so I doubt they will just swap him for Lisbie and given the clubs that he has been linked with, its unlikely that he would come to Ipswich! A swap for Stern John is a more realistic option. Palace will want more money than we will be prepared to pay for their better players.

I can't see any truth in this what so ever!

We have seen how Lisbie does for us, all last season and he was crap

unless we get a good player for him i would like to see lisbie gievn another chance. Only stead is putting the goals away in recent matches so we may as well give Lisbie another go, he knows where the net is in league 1.

Victor Moses - I would love to have him here but cant see it at all most of the players where linked with i cant see happening. Ambrose- Be great if we got him, i liked him last season when he had a loan spell. scoring loads for CP so be worth a punt for him .

but we still need a forward a goalscorer if we are to progress and try n get play offs although it might be to late !!

Agree with both sides of the argument about Lisbie in a way.

Yes, he has scored loads for colyoo, but firstly, they are in a lower league, secondly, and more important, he seems to want to play for them.

If he were to come back here and start banging in the goals, however much we all dislike him, we would be very foolish to want him gone.

But all of this is pie in the sky,i doubt whether he will get a game, and if he does, his talent (lack of) and temperament will not let him be a success.

Moses is wanted by one of the MIlanese clubs, i really dont think Ipswich are a realistic option.
As much as i personally would like to see Ambrose back here, a third spell is highly unlikely, imo.

On a more positive note, the fact that we have extended Johns loan, means, i reckon, that he is here for Stead cover, and that we (itfc) have a striker in mind to replace him by the end of Jan.

^agreed. John is cover for stead.
New striker undoubtedly imminent. Priskins time to shine IMO, this month may make/break his ipswich town career
