Rosenior: Peterborough Defeat Was Embarrassing
Rosenior: Peterborough Defeat Was Embarrassing
Thursday, 18th Feb 2010 16:03

Full-back Liam Rosenior admits that Town’s defeat to table-propping Peterborough United was embarrassing. The loanee from Reading has also refuted suggestions that the players don’t care enough.

Rosenior said: “I got home around 2am after the Peterborough game and I couldn't sleep.

“I was analysing my performance and I know when I got in to training yesterday that other lads had done the same. Losing to the bottom team is nothing short of a disgrace. It is embarrassing.

“When I came here in August I was looking at automatic promotion or the play-offs. This looked a realistic target to me with what we had to offer. It's what a club like Ipswich should be looking for. Now we're in a fight for survival. And it's not right.”

Rosenior, who has been one of the Blues more impressive performers this season, says the players are not taking the situation lightly: “We do care. OK, the current loanees, including myself, might not be here next season.

“But we have our pride and I can assure everyone that we are doing our best every game, but we're coming up short.”

Peterborough boss Jim Gannon says that Town’s second half capitulation at London Road came as no shock to him: "If I'm being truthful, then yes, I could see it coming."

“Having seen the Ipswich game at QPR, Ipswich have been the worst performing second half team in matches. So I'm not surprised."

Striker Daryl Murphy says the team perhaps need to relax after going ahead: “We're doing well at the start of games, scoring early goals, but then we should be relaxing a bit and keeping the ball. It's happened in each of the three games I've played so far.

”We've looked comfortable and then in the second half looked a totally different team. I don't know whether it's concentration or what it is. We're just coming out for the second half and not starting at all.”

LR said him and other loanees might not be here next season means "he dont know if he will be offered a contract or if he will be moving on. he's not saying he wont be here

The problem is that you only have eyes for Keane, look at the bigger picture. When Davis Sheepshanks was Chairman, at least he could see the problems with the manager and playing staff. Keane would have gone before Xmas, and given the chance to get a new manager the time to get us out of the situation we are in the moment.
Remember when Joe Royal was in charge, he did not have the money available to Keane but at least we watched some entertaining football. The ball was played through the midfield not booted up field as is the style we are watching at the moment.

LR and all the other players who spout off to the Press really need to cut the crap. The problem is they actually believe they are far better than they are and that it'll all turn out alright. If indeed they are good players it says nothing for their character that we are in this mess. They earn thousands a week and on the evidence of this season they really dont give a monkeys. Earlier this year it was Edwards who was gobbing off to the Press about how bad his team mates were! He is the prime example of why we are relegation fodder. Over paid and under performing. They are a shambles and light years away from the Premiership

If we do DROP out of this division,I am sure we will not be able to afford his wages, and the same with a lot of the players because I do not think we will have the income coming in to support them. Will Keano take a drop in his income IF WE GO DOWN.
NEW Reading manager done well 4 wins on the trot, (12 secure points)

I do hope a friend of mine DOES NOT WIN HIS DOUBLE BET HE PUT ON LAST SEPTEMBER NORWICH TO REPLACE IPSWICH. enough said!!! COYB !!!!!!!!

to that pillock up there......are we really gonna beat wednesday 5-0??? And if we did, i would still be anti-keane, hes taking us down atm. Cant cut it as a manager yet, he needs to take charge of a half decent lower league club and build from there, just doesnt have decent management skills....loaning out our top scorer? I see no sense in that. Selling our VERY promising striker at the start of a season where he was meant to start excelling for peanuts? Again, stupid. leaving quality player garvan out for so long, stupid. Buying overpriced absoloute wasters like martin, edwards and healy, stupid. Keane, stupid.

i disagree with your Garvan bit
it was managerial genius, Garvan has been lazy as hell since he first broke into the side getting by on just his killer pass and watching players crawl past him while he day dreams about his next pass.
he came back fighting after being left out and seems to have had a renewed interest and work rate.

Totally agree thetruth and I am just thankful that the people who write the continual negative comments on this site don't seem to attend the matches. The support is the one shining light of this gloomy season and the backing of keane and the team needs to continue while they try and get us out of this mess.

Why are so many people on here so obsessed with Curbishley, it's almost as tedious as Gio (yawn). Did anybody read the article about Curbishley in the sun last week, he paid millions on Dyer and Ljundberg and got 27 games between them sounds great in the transfer market doesn't he?. He took a lot of the blame for West Hams financial problems along with their former owner Eggertsen (I think that's his name). So before anyone else on here starts saying we should get him maybe think again, is he really what we need? Perhaps Sven might be interested, after all he waved £2m from Notts County so he's not as money obsessed as we all thought.

Curbishley bought bent from us for less than £3m got shed loads of goals from him and they went on to sell him for around £17m so he cant be that bad in the transfer market

Fair comment Blueknight, but at West Ham he was a disaster, a bit like Keane is here.

P.s He also signed Tevez and although he played well they lost millions over that deal.

Managerial genius to drop last season top scoring midfielder, most assists and then get 1 win in 15 games without him playing . I have heard it all !!! Hurt the team to make one player better ,takes a real genius

“We do care. OK, the current loanees, including myself, might not be here next season."

Out of contract in the summer - the way he's been playing this season, I can see a bigger club coming in for him and he'll be gone like a shot. I can't see David Wright hanging about either, so expecting to see Carlos Edwards at right-back next season...

Unfortunately Guus Hiddink is now manager of Turkey so there is not much chance of him coming here.

I agree with the comment that the supporters and their spirit this season has been a revelation, you get to know the real person when the chips are down and i have seen that many of us are true warriors. Royal Marines, it's a state of mind
