Duo Get Ireland Call
Duo Get Ireland Call
Friday, 19th Feb 2010 20:19

Academy duo Ronan Murray and David Cawley (pictured) have been named in the Republic of Ireland U19 squad for a training camp at Bisham Abbey from February 28th to March 4th. The camp is part of the Irish squad’s preparations for the UEFA U19 elite stage qualifiers in Ukraine in May.

Coach Sean McCaffrey says the camp will be used to plan for the games against England, Bosnia and the hosts: "We will set out a series of team and individual training sessions with the players over these five days.

"The time at Bisham Abbey will enable the management team of myself, Tommy Connolly and Declan McIntyre to practice particular aspects of play with the individual players of the squad.

"A friendly game is likely to be arranged in the programme but it's important that we get across our messages to the players at this stage bearing in mind the quality of opposition we face at the UEFA elite stage qualifiers.

"We have a double-header friendly confirmed at home to Poland on April 6th and 8th, so these exercises are critical to focusing the players on the task ahead."

Striker Murray has previously won nine U19 caps, while midfielder Cawley is receiving his first call at U19 level, although like Murray has previously won caps with the U16s.
