Clegg Welcomes New Football League Sponsor

Chief executive Simon Clegg says Town will benefit from npower becoming the Football League’s sponsor for the next three seasons. The energy provider will begin their sponsorship from next season.

Clegg told the club site: "This is an exciting new commercial agreement for the League that will benefit Ipswich Town both directly and indirectly.

"We are looking forward to working alongside npower over the next three years and I'm sure the partnership will prove to be a very successful one, with clubs and supporters benefiting from the sponsorship."

Football League chairman Lord Mawhinney added: "I am delighted to welcome npower to this new partnership with the Football League. They are a widely respected company with a strong pedigree in sports sponsorship. Their support is a huge boost to our clubs and represents the enhanced reputation of the Football League in the commercial marketplace.

"Like us, npower recognise the extraordinary attachment that Football League clubs have with people living in their local communities. This agreement will provide real benefit to those people."

Volker Beckers, chief executive officer of RWE npower, said: "We're absolutely delighted to be partnering the Football League. We share the enthusiasm of the fans that get behind their local teams and, like npower, football has always placed great emphasis on community involvement.

“We are committing a substantial amount to assist community initiatives at each of the 72 clubs through a charity fund administered by both npower and the Football League."

In addition to the charity fund, supporters will be rewarded for switching their energy supplier to npower. There will also be a new annual six-a-side competition, the Football League Community Cup, for teams of mixed U11 and U13 girls played throughout the country with the finals at Wembley prior to the play-off finals.

So Mr Clegg if we're gonna benefit over the next three years, does that mean you expect us to still be in the Championship (or lower!!!) during that time???
