Blades Skipper Out for Season
Blades Skipper Out for Season
Wednesday, 3rd Nov 2010 10:06

Sheffield United will be without skipper Chris Morgan when they face the Blues on Saturday with the central defender having been ruled out for the season with cruciate knee ligament damage. Morgan, 32, suffered the injury during Saturday’s 1-0 home defeat to Coventry City.

Manager Gary Speed said: "It's a massive blow for both Chris and the club and realistically we won't see him in action again until pre-season training next July.

"The lads we have that can play in the central defender's role will miss his experience and spirit, but I'm sure they will do all in their power to make up for his absence."

The Blues go to Bramall Lane on Saturday looking for their first victory on Blades territory since February 2005 when a debut goal from David Unsworth and a second half strike by Shefki Kuqi saw them to a 2-0 win.

Phil don't let facts get in a way of a Keane outters rant, that would never do. The FACT his retirement had nothing to do with that infamous tackle is neither here nor there. Keane will still get the blame with these a-holes, because it gives them a reason to hate the man. Don't take that away from them....

Surely the pronlem with the tackle was that it was premeditated. Keane said so in his autobiography which then pushed the FA into banning him for a further 5 matches for bringing the game into disrepute.

Whether the tackle ended Haarland's career or not, it was Keanes intention to hurt him and hurt him bad. Now I am not naive enough to think that this doesn't go on at every match, every week, but in my mind it is the fact that having done the deed, Keane brags about it in a book and has refused to show remorse since.

I am not a Keane outer but lets not kid ourselves that Keane was any different a type of player than Morgan or the likes of Thatcher just because he is our manager.Like Bergholt says the fact it was premeditated and no remorse has been shown in trying to injure a fellow player badly career ending or not . Most of us at the time thought it was appalling ,if Morgan someday becomes our manager or signs for us (god forbid) would we forget his thuggish style just because he is associated with the club ?

And Phil of course it is relevent if the man never played top level football again because he never recovered fully from the tackle

Whoppit.
Not on recent showings, they haven't. I see a lot of them, and now's the time to be playing them, as they are desperately short of confidence, with the fans already on their backs.

It's great to see we have such 'nice' fans, Morgan has put in some great performances for the blades over the years & is an 'old fashioned' centre half, lets be honest better than we have had over the last 10 years, I'm glad he's out Saturday cause they'll miss him, but not gloating over a serious injury, some people on here need to grow up!

Im surprised the Keano outers haven't claimed that Haaland's career was cut short by the subsiquent fall suffered directly from the challange.
