Burley Sacked By Palace
Saturday, 1st Jan 2011 17:16

Former Blues boss George Burley has been sacked by Crystal Palace having only taken over at Selhurst Park in the summer. The Eagles are 23rd in the Championship and lost 3-0 to Millwall earlier today.

A statement on Palace's website reads: "George Burley has today been relieved of his duties as first team manager of Crystal Palace FC.

"We would like to thank George for his dedication and hard work and share his regret that things didn't work out for him here."

Former striker Dougie Freedman has been appointed caretaker-manager

As usual a number of the blind faithful are on here commenting with no factual backup . Burley has not been sacked from every job since Ipswich
Hearts - he stepped down with mutual consent due to interference from the chairman -they were top of league
Derby - he resigned after interfence from chairman after guiding them from bottom three to playoffs
Saints - left to join Scotland after taking them to playoffs
Scotland - sacked - who will do better with players on offer ?
Palace - Sacked after 6 months whilst his best players were sold off in summer

Burleys win percentage at a cash strapped side is only slightly less than Keane after spending millions and signing 25 players .
I dont think Burley is the answer now buts lets be honest about the facts when comparing to Keane

Blue lady....... Really good players Danns & Ambrose but the trouble is Keane has eyes on 3 players I have this feeling they could be these:
Rory Fallen
Roy Carroll
Jack Colback

Why Burley? Hardly Mr Charisma is he? All credit to the lads soundbite when totally lost the game.

In hindsight he should have asked for Robsons help when Dale Roberts was unwell.

Thank you Surco72 at least someone else knows a bit about football.

I'm not saying I want Burley back. Its just that he has a proven track record and coudn't do any worse of a job than Keane mind you neither could my nan.

Blueady i like your idea of Dann and Ambrose. woud be nice to have their creativity.

I think the right manager could work wonders with the players we have.

George Burley just got fired on the back of a 3 - 0 hammering that put his team bottom ( a bit like the 3 - 0 away defeat at Grimsby that got him fired from Ipswich ) Think about what Martin O'neil, big Sam or Alan Curbishley could achieve - managers with a proven ability for building up teams owned by people who dont seem to want to spend any money on them

Take note Keane, you could well be next in the firing line with results of late.
