Town's young Dutchman Guillermo Graaven was arrested yesterday on suspicion of rape. A 17-year-old girl is alleged to have been raped by two men in the early hours of Sunday morning.

Suffolk Constabulary said yesterday: "Police can confirm that they received a report of a rape of a 17-year-old female in the early hours of yesterday morning and an investigation has been launched. Two 19-year-old men were arrested in Ipswich and are being questioned at Ipswich police station."

No charges have yet been made against Graaven or the other man, also 19.

It is alleged that the incident took place after the girl accepted a lift from two men as she was leaving Kartouche.

The mother of the victim said the girl will give the police a full statement: "She called me this morning to tell me what had happened and she is, as you can imagine, very upset and in a state."

Town signed Guillermo Graaven from Ajax last summer along with Nabil Abidallah. His first season here was greatly affected by an ankle injury picked up in his first reserve game against Leicester at Portman Road. He returned towards the end of the season.

A spokesperson from Town said: "The club are not aware of any details other than the fact that Guillermo Graaven has been detained for questioning. Therefore we can give no comment at this stage."

George Burley has said that neither Martijn Reuser or Titus Bramble will be leaving the club. Reports in the papers at the weekend suggested that Bramble might be a target for Manchester United while Tottenham are said to be interested in Reuser.

No bid has been received for either player and George Burley said he wants to strengthen his side not weaken it: "In football players come and go all the time. But we are looking to strengthen our team and are not interested in selling our better players."

Bramble meanwhile has an ankle injury, but has joined up with the England U21 squad playing Germany on Friday and Albania a week Tuesday.

Torpedo Moscow won their game 2-0 at the weekend against Sokol Saratov. They are now fifth in the Russian Premier League.

Their next game is a friendly in Germany against VFL Bochum. This could give George Burley a chance to send scouts to look at them.
