Evans Outlines Reasons For Appointing Jewell Thursday, 13th Jan 2011 13:56 Owner and chairman Marcus Evans has outlined his reasons for appointing Paul Jewell as Roy Keane’s successor as Town boss. Jewell takes over at Portman Road from today having been unveiled at a press conference on Monday. Evans, in an interview for last night’s programme which is now available in full on Town’s website, said: “I wanted a manager with several years of experience in the job behind them and a history of promotion to the Premier League - and then staying up once that promotion had been gained. “I was lucky enough to find a manager in Paul who has done that twice and pertinently with two clubs who had never been in the Premier League. “I wanted a manager who had experienced lows as well as highs, which in turn, in my opinion, makes them understand better the reasons for their successes. “I also wanted a manager who could play the way Ipswich supporters expect the game to be played and who will embrace the club's role in the community. And finally I wanted someone who can build the club over the long term.”
