Sub Appearance Will Be Boost for Civelli Monday, 7th Feb 2011 15:50
Manager Paul Jewell says midfielder Luciano Civelli’s return to first team action after 23 months out due to a multi-ligament knee injury will give his confidence a boost. The 24-year-old came on as a sub in the closing stages of Saturday’s 3-0 victory over Sheffield United.
Jewell told the club site: "Luca has had a tough time with a serious injury but he's back in contention now.
“He's been involved in training since I've been here and has shown a good attitude. We're delighted to have him in our squad.
"He reminds me of Kevin Kilbane in the way he runs, and being back on the pitch and in the team should add to his confidence."
Civelli, who is contracted until 2012, had made eight first team appearances for the Blues before suffering his injury in March 2009 during the 1-1 home draw with Burnley.

Luca looked as though he really enjoyed those few minutes on Saturday. Can't help but think this boy has a touch of class about him? Luca and Martin could be our wide players we have been missing for so long!

As BlueLady typed earlier on, I think Jim will be a godsend for Luca at this time in his injury.

Next Season I can see him and Martin supplying the Ammo for Priskin and Wickham each getting 15 goals +, Bullard will sign for us in the summer, I know he is older but lets have an Attacking Team built around him for next 2.5 seasons and see if we can get out of the Championship, which is considered the toughest league in the world, ME will give PJ a Warchest in the Summer, I have supported Ipswich since 1978 but this year was my first season ticket as I have tried to indoctrinate my sons into Ipswich Town, I am now going to Re-new the ticket but could the people in the Lower Britannia please cheer up!!

Garv, dont worry man. After the investment in his signing/wages/medical fees, Im sure the club wont allow him just to leave. He has the rest of this season and all of next season (fingers crossed no more injuries) to show his worth. He has the attitide and determination & If he proves he can still play than Im sure the club will offer him an extension. Welcome back Luca.

I was there at the Burnley game when he picked the injury. i never thought he would spend the best part of two years out, but it's better he hasn't been rushed back. Hopefuly he will be fully fit for next season. Welcome back Luca!
