Town's U18s fell to a 2-0 defeat at Southampton's Staplewood training ground on Saturday afternoon.

The Saints were awarded a penalty after just four minutes when Town central defender Josh Meekings was adjudged to have fouled Sam Hoskins in the area. Hoskins netted the resultant spotkick and Lloyd Isgrove scored the Saints' second after 12 minutes to confirm the Blues' defeat.

Town fielded a trialist keeper from West Ham, Deniz Mehmet, with Cody Cropper away with America's U20s and Conor O'Donnell out with a shoulder injury. Cropper was an unused sub as the US youngsters beat Panama 2-0 in their second CONCACAF U20 World Cup qualifying group game in Guatemala last night.

Meanwhile, Town's U16s also suffered defeat against Southampton, losing 3-2.

U18s: Mehmet, Bennett, McKeown, Jones, Meekings, Maduako (October 60), Burke, Scotcher, Lavery, Tiofack, Whight. Unused: Acott, Marriott.
