Scum Apologise to Town Sunday, 23rd Sep 2001 18:27 Norwich City have apologised to Town after their scoreboard proclaimed the legend "Manchester United 1, Scum 0" at the weekend. City aim for a family image with the club giving free tickets to schools amongst other things. The term 'Scum' apparently is not in keeping with this. Budgie chief executive Neil Doncaster said: "We are most embarrassed and upset having worked hard to foster good relations with Ipswich Town. We take the incident very seriously. We will be conducting a full internal investigation and will take the appropriate action". Presumably Delia Smith's recent comments describing Town's backroom set-up as "a mess" are also part of their attempts to "foster good relations."
