Scotland Again Linked With Swansea Return
Scotland Again Linked With Swansea Return

Town striker Jason Scotland is again being linked with a return to his former club Swansea. The now-Premier League side made an attempt to sign the 32-year-old on loan in February but the clubs were unable to agree a deal, however, new talks are now said to be under way, presumably regarding a permanent switch.

After February’s proposed move broke down, Swansea took fellow Blue Tamás Priskin on loan for the remainder of the season, a deal which eventually led to the recently resolved spat between the clubs regarding the Swans’ failure to pay Town £300,000 in wages and a bonus relating to the Welsh side’s promotion.

Scotland, who appears to be surplus to requirements at Portman Road since the signings of Michael Chopra and Nathan Ellington, enjoyed a highly successful spell with the Swans between 2007 and 2009, scoring 53 goals in 91 starts and 14 sub appearances.

Brighton and Sheffield Wednesday were previously linked with the Trinidad and Tobago international, although the Owls appear confused about their interest with owner Milan Mandaric confirming it but manager Gary Megson dismissing the claims. Rumours over the last couple of days have linked Barnsley.

A Premier League player with Wigan prior to his £750,000 switch to the Blues last summer, Scotland has just this season remaining on his contract at Portman Road having netted 10 times during 2010/11.

Meanwhile, the Watford media report that the Hornets are yet to receive an offer for striker Marvin Sordell for whom a national newspaper claimed Town are set to make an £800,000 bid this morning.

Chops has a second, not a bad debut, even if it is a friendly

I suspect Scotland will leave the club. Personally I still think he was unlucky, playing as a very isolated striker in a rather negative one up front during PJ's time at the club. He actually scored goals in a 4-4-2. Now PJ has signed other strikers though, it would seem Scotland is not needed.

Nile Ranger was at Palace as kid and was politely asked to leave.

The fact Swansea are considering him for the PL is good...from the point of view that he will now seem more appealing to other teams (who have been hesitating).

Similarly, the calibre of players we have been linked to (a couple of which we actually signed!) shows Ipswich are going places...and we need a good reputation to attract players. We need to be one of the 'places to be' for a player.

The moaning about all the pre-season rumours seems astonishingly dumb: not just because some of our 'clever' fans don't have to read the articles anyway, but this too. The speculation is seen by the football world. Players and agents included.
