Andrews Starts for Ireland as Delaney Added to Squad Thursday, 1st Sep 2011 14:54
Town loanee Keith Andrews has been named in the Republic of Ireland starting line-up for their Euro 2012 qualifier against Slovakia in Dublin on Friday evening (Sky Sports Three/HD3 7.30pm). Blues defender Damien Delaney has been added to the squad.
Andrews, who has previously won 20 caps and has scored two goals, will play his usual international role, sitting in front of the defence along with Stoke’s Glenn Whelan.
Five-times capped Delaney, who was named in the provisional squad but was left out of the final party, has been drafted in after Kevin Kilbane dropped out due to injury.
Also on international this week are David Stockdale with England, Carlos Edwards, with Trinidad and Tobago, Jaime Peters with Canada and Josh Carson with the Northern Irish U21s.
Striker Tamás Priskin, who had been out of action with a recurrence of his knee injury, is with Hungary for their Euro 2012 qualifiers against Sweden tomorrow and Moldova next Tuesday.
Republic of Ireland: Shay Given, John O'Shea, Richard Dunne, Sean St Ledger, Stephen Ward, Damien Duff, Keith Andrews, Glenn Whelan, Aiden McGeady, Robbie Keane and Shane Long.

Its a very solid team and well balanced. Given, Dunne, O Shea, St Ledger and Ward are all quality defenders. Whelan and Andrews are tough as nails and can shoot accurately from distance as well as get stuck in. We have pace and skill in the wings with Duffer and McGeady. Up front we have a very lively and quick forward line with Long And LA-Robbie. Its certainly not a pretty team but it could well be very effective on the break! 1-0 to Ireland, Andrews with a long range beauty!

I wasn't being sarcastic when I said to sign Fallon. Only 2 years ago Fallon was an absolute International Hero, scoring a Header that put New Zealand through to the World Cup Finals http://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/football/article-1228071/EXCLUSIVE-Rory-Fallon- IMHO i think he would be the perfect foil thats been missing for Chopra. he's 6ft 2 inches, only 29 years old and a first choice NZ International. he's been at our club before and most supporters here loved him while he was here and said how surprised how good he was. his workrate and commitment were exemplary, he would have battled from start to finish against peterborough. he's good in the air and is a quality passer of the ball. would get assist after assist for chopra if given his chance. he's a free transfer, we should jump in and grab him while we still can. better than the duke anyday.
