Malster to Appeal
Malster to Appeal
Saturday, 13th Oct 2001 11:21

Alderman Road resident Rose Malster has still not given up her hopes of stopping the new North Stand. The persistent resident of the street behind the ground is now set to take her battle to Europe, a happy hunting ground for Town so far htis season.

Ipswich Borough Council have revealed that Malster had contacted the Appeal Court to register her intention of going to Europe. Appeal Court judges will decide later this month whether her appeal should be heard or thrown out.

If the case does go to Europe then proceedings could take up to 20 months. If the verdict goes against the council (and in turn Town) then a planning application would have to be re-submitted. Malster's solicitors could apply for an injunction which will stop work on the stand should an appeal be granted.

The new North is expected to be ready for a large number of returning North Standers in November and is planned to be finished around the end of the season.

Malster has already lost her battle to have the stand stopped once. Mr Justice Sullivan ruled in favour of the club and council back in August.
