Murray Joins Swindon
Thursday, 24th Nov 2011 17:20

Striker Ronan Murray has joined League Two Swindon Town on loan until January 14th. The 20-year-old is yet to feature for the Blues first team this season but scored two and created one as the reserves beat West Ham 3-2 on Tuesday.

Speaking earlier today, Town manager Paul Jewell said he was keen to get the Irish U21 international out on loan to play matches: “I had a call from them this morning and hopefully that will go through.

“I’ve been trying to get him fixed up all year because I think he’ll score goals at that level and needs to get games under his belt.

“If he goes and plays games there for a month it’ll give him confidence. He’s a great kid. He went to Torquay last year and got the odd goal and if he can go somewhere else and play it’ll give him a huge boost.”

Murray says he's delighted to be making the move: "I need to be playing first team football and joining Swindon is a great opportunity for me to do that.

"I know the manager has been looking for the right club to get me out on loan and he feels this is a great move for me and I'm really looking forward to it.

"Swindon are doing well in League Two and hopefully I can play my part in helping the club push on."

This afternoon's loan deadline passed with no further additions to the Town squad.

tomisamos....hostile atmosphere at Portman road..since when?.....ive heard more noise in Diss Library !..personally i long for the days when i could walk along P road and the hairs on the back of my neck would rise as i heard the north stand singing and chanting before the match even started..alas the days of any real atmosphere at football are long gone....unless were playing leeds.

PSG - ridiculous, we still have Chopra, Ellington, Scotland, JET and Murphy.

nitroblue - the players are only ever greeted by silence or a low rumbling of fans complaining and grumpling. Every time anything remotely goes wrong everyone's up in arms and shouting at the players. Sometimes it's just individuals around me, but there are few people actually cheering the team on. It's not like Blackburn, but I'd say the fans attitude is pretty hostile. Probably not the most obvious term though, it certainly describes the general attitude of this forum.

Keaneish - your posts are spot on - don't get wound up by moronic response - not worth it.
It's no good trying to get through to some people - they'll always be biased, and don't understand the game anyway.
