Players Lacking Ambition - Burley
Players Lacking Ambition - Burley

Town manager George Burley has said that some of his players are showing a lack of ambition in the wake of another disappointing result and performance. The Blues were once again far from the side which reached fifth in the Premiership last season as West Ham beat them 3-2.

Burley said: "One or two of our players are not showing the ambition and desire that they need to. When things are not going well you need to work harder and stand up and be counted. A run like this can be character-building but I was disappointed we had to carry one or two players today. I've told the players they need to do better, and some need to do a lot better."

He added: "Expectations are high, the Premiership is a very tough league and our aim is 38 points to stay up. At the moment we are not doing enough to win games. Like any manager I am accountable for performances but I have had over 300 league games as manager and I think it is for others at the club to decide on my record."

Burley's job has been described as the safest in football and it would be very unlikely for the club to decide he was surplus to requirements.
