Player of the Year Cresswell Looking Forward to Even Better 2012/13
Player of the Year Cresswell Looking Forward to Even Better 2012/13
Wednesday, 9th May 2012 12:17

Supporters Club Player of the Year Aaron Cresswell is confident he can have an even better 2012/13 season. Left-back Cresswell is pleasantly surprised to have made so many senior appearances, never mind collect the fans’ accolade, in his first season at Portman Road following last summer’s move from Tranmere.

Cresswell, 22, said: “It was a long, up and down season. We had some bad results but we also had some good ones, and from a personal point of view it was obviously a great honour to be named Player of the Year.

“When I first arrived here last June, if someone had said to me that I would go on to play 46 games I wouldn’t have believed them. I never expected it would happen so naturally I am very happy with the way things have turned out.”

Cresswell missed the last-day victory at Doncaster with a hamstring injury he picked up in the home defeat by Millwall the previous week but it has not turned out to be as serious as first feared.

He added: “I had a scan and it only showed up a little tear. If there is a good time to be injured I suppose this is it. I could have missed a few games but it’s only one and at least I have plenty of time now to recover.

“I am sure I will be well and truly ready to start pre-season training with the rest of the lads and I can sense that everybody is already looking forward to the new season.

“As I said, it was a season of ups and downs. But we only lost four of our last 19 games, which is top six form, and that run has given us plenty of confidence to take with us into the new season. We all know what is needed — we need to find more consistency.”

Good lad, keep it up, will only improve with time. Could do with a couple more like him, young and hungry.

Good luck Cressy. Considering the amount of players in the squad that we pretty much carried for the last 19 games that are now gone or going, with a few decent additions and if we are as lucky in terms of injuries as we were this season, i reckon top 6 is a possibility. And that would do us all fine, i reckon. I share some of the opinions on here and in the blogs about realistic expectations in light of the FFP coming in. We're not a big club, but we are lucky enough to have been backed and need to find our level, our culture, our self respect, and possibly, but not rightfully, the Premiership.

beds - yeah i have noticed that when we lose we always get lots of posts and when we win not so much, almost as if some people thrive on it.

Good lad. Let's hope we continue our form in 2012, into the new season and silence the 'boring, boring, boo boys' COYB!!

I am really pleased both for him and the club. A worthy successor for Mick Mills in the making?

Cressy, you gave us an excellent first season and are a great advert for young hungry players looking to push on and better themselves and deserving of the better contracts that can be obtained and that you have earned.

Everybody has pretty much already said it, but let's hope PJ and his scouts can find a few more players of Cresswell's ability and attitude.
