Blues Linked With Move for Watford Keeper Loach
Blues Linked With Move for Watford Keeper Loach
Friday, 1st Jun 2012 12:32

Town are reported to be considering a move for Watford keeper Scott Loach. The 24-year-old was a schoolboy with the Blues Academy between 1997 and 2000 before his family moved back to Nottingham where he had been born.

Loach, who last summer said it would be “a dream to play” for his boyhood club one day, fell out of favour at Vicarage Road during 2011/12 with Manchester United’s Tomasz Kuszczak coming in on loan.

Coincidentally, Kuszczak is top of Paul Jewell’s list of potential new keepers but Loach, who is contracted to Watford until June 2013, may well be amongst his alternatives. The former England U21 international will have worked with keeper-coach Malcolm Webster during his time at Playford Road.

In addition to his spells with the Blues and Nottingham Forest, Loach was also with Southwell United and Lincoln City's youth set-ups, while he has spent time on loan at Stafford Rangers, Morecambe and Bradford City while with Watford. A number of other clubs are also said to be monitoring Loach’s situation with the Hornets.

In addition to Kuszczak and Loach, the Blues have also been linked with Birmingham's Colin Doyle, although with sources close to the club playing any interest down, and a loan move for Manchester United's Ben Amos, while ex-Aston Villa man Brad Guzan is also believed to be on the list of possible new keepers.

Loach, who is 6ft 4in tall, can be seen in action for Town’s Academy in this short film.

One assumes the interviewer asking the young Scott Loach inappropriate questions is now on a register somewhere? Shocking.

Anyway who had 39 "over the moons" in the sweep - please come and collect your prize money.

Listening to him..... let's not bother shall we.

Thought he was awesome for watford at PR last season . When you lose a bit of form as a keeper its scrutinised a hell of alot more and it easy to be dropped to the bench . Sometimes a change is what is needed to get bk on track . Think we could do alot worse and would be happy to see him at Pr next season . For all the haters who are holding out for Joe Hart take a reality check .... Form is tempoary ... COYB

Just because Watford fans think he's rubbish doesn't make it so. Some of them told us Priskin was rubbish too.

Oh, wait a second.........

Kusczak is a no-no because we cannot afford the wages. And he will not come here.

I don't give a "Monkeys" what Watford fans think. As is clear on this board, everyone has their favourites and their Boo Boys. Loach has a lot of potential, would be relatively cheap and would play for the club - unlike the Bullards, Bowyers,Leadbitter, Norris and the ilk. So i say, if he is available then we should seriously consider it

well i know many norwich fans, and they loved what keane did for us, would love to see him manage the scum.

Would prefer loach to any loan keeper, we need our own established No 1..COYB

As he only has year left on his contract Watford will not want him to go for free next summer, get in there PJ and sign him up. Watford owe us one for all the money we paid for Priskin.

Would be a more realistic signing than Kusczak to be honest. He may have had a poor season last year but had been highly rated before then. Has openly admitted he would love to play for ITFC so I would get him in

Phil said he was 6ft 1 last year but he is not reported to be 6ft 4. I say wait a couple of years until he is nearer 7ft.

Get him in and follow it up by signing Heaton and that would be our keeper situation sorted. Now we need a centre half, maybe 2, and a striker peferably not Fuller.

Agree Texaco, only a matter of time before this link came up.

I'm a Town fan, I play in goal, and it would be a dream to turn out for my boyhood heroes... but as been pointed out, it doesn't necessarily mean I'm any good.

Actually how about a "linkstake"? A fiver in, pick a player, and the first person whose player gets linked to us wins the pot.

My entry - Clarke Carlisle (a bit left-field, perhaps)

Sign him up
A true blue
Our next Keeper for 10 years
I mean he's a class young keeper and he says that it's a dream to play for town
It makes a lot of sense to sign him
He loves the Town
Unlike Lambert and Holt loving Naaarij

My mate a Watford fan who goes to every game 'cause he's on a gap year, says Loach is a bit suspect and gets caught in 2 minds too often. Get Shane Supple back, he's only playing netball in Ireland, or put in a loan bid for Richard Wright!!

having seen him make severall major gaffes on tv in the last 2 seasons i frankly dont think hes much better than ALB, but if he signs would get my full supprt & would hope he will improve on his weaknesses & prove to be the keeper we have long needed. personally id much prefer heaton. or obviously kuszczak or guzan. all better keepers than loach. but whoever we sign should get the full support of every1 who calls themself a town fanm & that not mean just the keeeper but every1 we sign

BTW Paul, remeber there are 11 different players in a football team and you need one of each.

I really think we need to push the boat out on the GK issue. Guzan would be the best choice. A good GK can make a difference of 10 - 12 points in a season. On the other hand, e could try and get the Shefield Utd goalie. Just don't let him take any penalties!!

Better keepers out there. Wait and see.
