Kenny Latest Keeper Link
Kenny Latest Keeper Link

QPR’s Paddy Kenny is the latest keeper to be linked with a move to the Blues. The 34-year-old is expected to leave Loftus Road this summer with Leeds, managed by his Bury and Sheffield United mentor Neil Warnock, previously mentioned as his likely destination.

The Blues are said to be planning to make a £500,000 offer for Halifax-born Irish international Kenny, who has a year remaining on his contract.

Warnock, who signed the 6ft 1in tall keeper from non-league Bradford Park Avenue when manager of Bury, then took him Sheffield United and QPR, had been tipped to sign Kenny again this summer.

However, with talk of a possible takeover at Elland Road, the Whites are currently short of cash and were unable to complete their move for Portsmouth’s Joel Ward, who eventually joined Crystal Palace rather than Leeds or Town, who were also amongst the interested parties.

Town are very much in the market for a new number one with released Manchester United keeper Tomasz Kuszczak top of Paul Jewell’s wish-list but with top flight clubs in England and Germany also interested.

Watford’s Scott Loach, Manchester United youngster Ben Amos, former Aston Villa man Brad Guzan and Birmingham’s Colin Doyle have all also been linked.

Not sure about kenny he's a good goal keeper but I would rather loach or guzan or Doyle. A lot younger and more of a prospect.

@Superfranz - I couldn't agree more. Snap him up in a New York minute. Quality keeper & was by far the best in this division, when they won the title only a year ago.

For those you that says he is not commanding enough, what are you basing that upon?? We would be lucky to have him.

I don't think he did too many errors for QPR last season. Can always remember how annoying he was when he was at Sheffield United though - time wasting whilst smiling at the Ipswich fans has always made me dislike him, would rather a younger goalie come in with a better attitude. If he goes Warnock will sign him anyway (for the third time I think).

I would rather have Guzan. Still its good to know we are showing an interest. Hope we go for Nelsen as well.

Let Leeds have him! His howler against Man City could have got them relegated if Stoke hadn't equalised against Bolton. Fitz Hall or Clint Hill from QPR would be decent signings though.

Don't worry he will go to Leeds to be re-united with Colin.

I think he's an ok goalkeeper and certainly better than anything we've had here in the last few years or so (saying that though not sure if he's better than the Fulham chap we had on loan) - he didn't cover himself in glory at the Ethihad though on the last game of the season. We he come here? I doubt it.

We need an experienced 'keeper. He could be the man. However, £500k seems grossly excessive.

If we are to get a spine through our team Kenny would be a good start with all his experience and ability and would be a great championship goalkeeper. However £500,000 for a 34 year old keeper is excessive! So yes to the signing and no to the fee.

Should start reporting on which keepers we aren't being linked with!
