Town Target Kuszczak Joins Brighton
Town Target Kuszczak Joins Brighton
Tuesday, 19th Jun 2012 21:39

Town will have to look elsewhere for their new first-choice keeper with number one target Tomasz Kuszczak completing a Bosman free move to Brighton and Hove Albion this evening, signing a two-year deal. As reported in April, the 30-year-old Pole, who was released by Manchester United at the end of the season, was the man Paul Jewell wanted to see between the Portman Road sticks next season.

Brighton boss Gus Poyet was delighted to win the race for the one-time West Brom man, who was also being chased by sides in Germany: "There were clubs in England and abroad interested in Tomasz, but it says a lot for the ambition of this club that he wanted to sign for Brighton.

"We had been tracking his progress for some time and he will provide real competition to both Casper Ankergren and Peter Brezovan for the goalkeeper’s jersey this coming season — and that can only be a good thing for the team moving forward."

Kuszczak outlined why he chose to join the Seagulls: "I have played Premier League football for eight years, with West Bromwich Albion and Manchester United, and I believe the structure is in place here to join them.

"The manager and coaching staff, the team, stadium, crowds, through to the plans for the new training ground, everything is geared up for playing at the highest level and I could sense that ambition to be a top club straight away.

"Also when I played against Brighton last season, while on loan at Watford, I was very impressed with the way the team played - it was totally different to the rest of the Championship and more like what I was used to at Manchester United.

"This team likes to pass the ball, they like to create, they are attractive to watch. The way Brighton play is the future of football. I had other clubs who wanted to sign me but my heart told me that this was the right choice."

In addition to their interest in Kuszczak, the Blues sounded out former Peterborough keeper Joe Lewis prior to his move to Cardiff, while QPR’s Paddy Kenny has also been mentioned in connection with Town, however, is expected to be reunited with Neil Warnock at Leeds United.

Watford’s Scott Loach, Manchester United youngster Ben Amos, former Aston Villa man Brad Guzan and Birmingham’s Colin Doyle, who was recently offered new terms by the Midlanders, have all also been linked.

Like Blues1 says I'm happy to give pj a chance to put things right and yes it is still early days as far as signings go, but I would really like to see our key positions in place before the end of July at the latest, so they are ready and gelling with the rest of the squad and then I can start feeling good about the season ahead.

...... proves YET AGAIN that the prospect of coming to play for Jewell and Clegg - just doesn't appeal to players.
Problem is they have dragged the name of IPSWICH TOWN down with them - there was a time when almost every player in the game respected this Club, and would have been interested in coming here.

At this rate, success this season will be to finish fourth from bottom.

....... this Club, and a percentage of it's support, is like the swimmer in trouble who won't accept a buoyancy aid - carry on as we are and we will soon be BELOW the water line - TOO LATE THEN I'm afraid.

..... all decent signings are, and will continue, to move to Clubs with something to offer i.e. decent realistic contract, young abitious manager, etc; etc; - proof of that is there already this close season for all to see.

We just don't have to offer what it currently takes.

And anyone who says 'not panic stations yet' - I can assure you that with what we currently have - IT BL##DY WELL IS.
Alternatively - continue to be an OSTRICH - and you know what they do.

h32. so its panic stations is it? then in that case every fan of every club in the country needs to start panicking. because almost no team has signed more than 2 or 3 players at this moment in time, which is exactly the same number as we have signed. but youd rather not consider that because you just want to slag off the club which you say you support. as for the idea of getting shane supple back? what a joke. hes not played football since he left. the game he playing now totally different. plus, somehow i cant see him returning, can you? him leaving, for once had nothing to do with keane. was purely down to him not wanting to play football ne longer. frankly h 32 this club would be better off without people like you supporting it. itfc needs fans to get behind them, not just slag them off at every opportunity. of course you have the right to moan if something really bad going on, but for gods sake, weve supposedly missed out on 1 keeper who no1 knows one way or other if we were ever after him. hes not even that great a keeper. good shot stopper, poor on crosses. remind of ne1 we know?

TWTD is among the top websites? Most used in the country? Not sure of your sources here - please do share!

However, the TWTD Forum (ie the bit you're reading now) is extremely limited in its features, functionality and layout. Why use only a third of available screen width? It's hard to get very much on screen. Page layout is very jumbled, and ugly. Features commonplace everywhere else - like 'search', hyperlinks and uploading pictures - aren't available here. Yet ITFC fans seem to accept it, imagining that what they've become used to must automatically be the best. Bit like their attitude to their club's worryingly invisible 'owner' and his out-of-depth chief executive. Complacency is any fan's worst enemy.

TWTD? Those indeed Were The Days, but things have changed in recent times, for our club, and yours. And if you look around - for example Bristol City, Charlton, Palace, Cardiff, even puny little Brighton's North Stand Chat - you'll see that other clubs' fansites have moved on too.

brighton eye. for 1 the part im reading now, is not the forum, its the message board. the forum is a totally different part of the website. so maybe you should make sure youve checked out the whole of the website, not just part of it before you criticise it. and you can indeed upload both pics & video on this site, even here on the messageboard. so not quite so limited is it as i said before, i wont criticise your club or ne1 or nething linked to it, it not my place. just as our website certainly not the place foryou to criticise our club neither. youd do well to remember where your club was not so long ago, when u were asking fans of this club, & many others to give you money to prevent you going out of existence before coming on here to slag my club off. i believe you have a good club with a good manager, and a team who play good football & good luck to you have to say tho that from the other fan who has posted on here today, certainly some of your fans just presume because you had a good seaon last time around that you gonna be promoted this coming season. if only it was that easy

Fair enough! I used the wrong term to describe this page - sorry!
Now, if you can just answer the original question re your saying that TWTD

" ...is actually the most used football website in this country, bar none, and is among the top websites there are"

I'll be very interested to see your evidence. Or isn't there any?

TWTD is among the top websites? Most used in the country? Not sure of your sources here - please do share!

Clegg couldn't buy a round but then the type of bloke he is he would'nt want too!!

No surprise to me that he's gone to Brighton. The Sussex coastal resorts are full of Poles anyway.

Good luck to the bloke (although I don't see this as the big loss as some are making out) and BHA, an upcoming and progressive club who I think will be hosting Premiership footy before long, but whether they'll firmly establish themselves in it, remains to be seen.

yeah why did he go to Brighton?!? - as I keep saying the longer we have a number of managers who get us nowhere other than just below mid-table the more and more our 'stock' falls - it's about time things started happening here!

blues1 - excuses, excuses, excuses, - will change nothing - but keep on trying to find them if it suits you.
If I choose to support the Club, or not, is entirely my business and perogative - don't bother yourself about me - you need all your attention to be focussed on EXCUSES.

H32, I agree with you. We should be panicking now. But don't be too hard on blues1; we want our kids to follow the club with blind faith. Why be fractious when they perceive that us older fans introduce a strand of realism to the arguments.

Dozzells_Bobblehat added 23:31 - Jun 20
Blue041273 - not all older fans agree with you or h32's viewpoint. Please explain to me why we should be panicking when the season kicks off in TWO MONTHS.
Its the same every year, agents and players who are looking to move hold out for better deals.
In an ideal world it would be great to get six or seven new faces in now, but its not. If in six weeks time we havent signed at least one CB and a GK fair enough, maybe then we should worry.
Patience.

Dissboyitfc added 07:51 - Jun 21
Dozzels Bobblehat...totally agree with you...without patience we are going nowhere and we did accept the help ( buoyancy aid) its called the Evans ownership, needed because the last man at the helm, misspent millions on players and led the club into administration, oh how i wish the last regime had invested more patience....

Yes we did experience some wonderful achievements under Sheepshanks, but it all came at a very heavy cost, would rather do sustainable success this time, and it will come but we might need to wait...coyb

If and when we do build up a run of results and challenge for the top we really must sell suffolk a bit more. It is a good place to bring up a family and ipswich does have a track record of improving players.

this Kusack deal I am sure is all down to money and ambition- are the 2 the same in football, Brighton are more likely to be going up than us on paper, and will be paying more money than we will be prepared to. Despite what our banner said last season at their ground money can buy you a keeper.
This will not be the only player who is reported to choose others ahead of us- l think what it means is that our strategy must be to identify and attract players from lower league clubs who see Ipswich as a step up rather than chase Pemier league players who we probably cannot afford. This whole episode whether true or not has done little for anyones morale.

I notice Brighton away is a midweek game this year, I can hardly think of a worse place to have a midweek game unless you enjoy spending most of your late evening waiting for a train- probably in the rain after a defeat.

blue041273. if you agree with h32 then youre as bad as he is. not a clue. clearly demonstrated by your assumption im some spotty kid. actually ive supported this club for nigh on 40 years, & of course im no happier than you are with the way things have been for the past few seasons in particular. but i choose to get behind the club, not continually slag it off. if come the end of july we still havent got the players in that we need then im sure ill be joining you in criticising whats going on, as im sure will most fans. but for gods sake, just give pj, etc the time to get this sorted. im sure if they dont & we have a bad start to the season then action will be taken to rectify it. h32. of course its ur choice to support the club. trouble is, you dont, you just constantly criticise. hey ,im not bothered about you, just the effect having such negative fans has on the club. no wonder theres no atmosphere at games if theres too many fans with this negative attitude in the ground. im not criticising you neither, just your attitude. im sure you want exactly the same as i do at the end of the day. a team to be proud of
