Kieron His Way-Ay To Newcastle
Kieron His Way-Ay To Newcastle

It seems Town's summer action has really started with Town accepting a bid from Newcastle for Kieron Dyer.

The fee has not been disclosed which may cause many Town fans to worry that we have once again let a player go for much less than his value.

Whatever the fee, should Kieron agree personal terms and join the Geordie club, George Burley will finally have an idea what sort of money he has to play with for squad strengthening.

Town are in dire need of a couple of midfielders, a striker and a full-back at least. The next few weeks could be interesting to say the least.

Town have gone transfer crazy with the announcement that Mike Salmon has agreed to join as Lee Bracey's replacement. The 36-year-old has played for Charlton, Blackburn Rovers, Chester City, Stockport County, Bolton Wanderers and Wrexham.

With that sort of travelling experience even if he doesn't get a game in goal he should certainly be able to help out with negotiations.

Also reported is Town's interest in Martin Smith available on a free from Sunderland. Smith a winger is highly rated by Sunderland fans who feel that he was often treated unjustly by the management. He is apparently a skillful winger who tends to drift in and out of games. Hmm, sounds like an ideal replacement for Bobby Petta.
