Jewell: Media Haven't Picked Up on Targets Wednesday, 11th Jul 2012 14:19
Blues boss Paul Jewell says that the media are yet to pick up on the identities of some of his summer transfer targets. The Town manager, who has already added central defender Luke Chambers and right-back Elliott Hewitt to his squad, says quality players who are available are proving hard to find.
Jewell, who also reiterated his intention to get the likes of Lee Martin signed up on longer deals, told BBC Radio Suffolk: "Seeing how quiet the market's been over the summer would indicate there's a premium of good players around.
"We're not even getting to the stage of people turning us down because there really is a lack of players."
He says some of the players he has in mind as he looks to add another three or four players before the start of the season are yet to leak out: "We've got targets and we're pursuing them and luckily they haven't been reported in the press."

bluey420. while i do agree to some extent with what you say, in that i do think there are times when phil shouldnt post a story on here, it has to be said that he does a terrific job on this website & we should all appreciate what a great site we have here. there are people who want to hear every bit of speculation too so for them, im sure they more than happy for every story to appear here. but as has been proved by this story, much of the links on here are purely that. links by a newspaper that phil has seen & then posted, or stories from contacts elsewhere. but most are speculation or items that phil has to take at face value as to whether they right or not. so i dont think you should be criticising him if certain things turn out to have no truth in them whatsoever.

He's a wiley old fox!! As long as he keeps us/the press guessing then the same goes for other clubs. However no good signing the wrong players, he has to improve on his signing success and so far I have to say the 2 players he has brought in look very promising.

Good that he is keeping his cards much closer to his chest. Comment suggests, perhaps, that a few overseas players might also be on his list. As for targets in UK the quieter that PJ is the better. Showing a much more professional approach at last......

Fair enough radiogaga, that's your opinion, but I saw 'MacAuley' have so many bad games for us. He never really inspired confidence consistently in a blue shirt. He would have a good spell then look awful. Not all his fault admittedly, he had numerous defensive partners and never really had a natural defensive midfielder helping out in front of the defence, nor a regular keeper. Contrastingly, Danny Collins's loan spell coincided with Town's resurgence last year and he would be a real asset to our defence alongside Chambers next season http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/football/15277055
