Bullard Fit and Not in Clink
Bullard Fit and Not in Clink

Blues boss Paul Jewell says midfielder Jimmy Bullard returned to the club in good shape after the summer — despite claims that he was in a foreign prison cell.

Jewell said: “Every player was given an individual programme for the summer and one thing Jimmy doesn’t lack is fitness.

“Simon Clegg took a phonecall [from a national newspaper a couple of weeks ago] to say he’d been arrested in Marbella.

"He rang Jimmy straight away and Jimmy was fishing. You can’t have phones [in jail]!

"There’s always a story with Jimmy, but he’s in good condition.”

Tractor Rog: Why on earth would he comment on a story that is plainly untrue?

I love the fact that the true story (that he was fishing) is so much more entertaining than the fake one from the papers.

We all still want curly hair Jimmy, and a few more goals like that beaut at Millwall

We all know how good jimmy is(on his day, the best midfielder we have), but when you are sat on the bench or left out of the squad for 30+ games, how can he show us how good he is!!!!!!!!! Give him the chance pj!! COYB

If PJ plays Hyam then Bullard can go and express himself. If he isn't on form then luckily Drury showed what he can do last season.

I stand corrected ~ forgot about that amazing goal at Millwall. Let's hope we can see Jimmy back to his best and say to Hull fans "Dunno what you were on about, he was great for us!"

PJ as a Liverpudlian should be well aware you can get phones in jail :-)

@amydownes: I said reflect, not comment.

Fail. For the record, JB owes no one anything. He's a true professional, in that he'll squeeze the pips out of the game and really doesn't care what the shirt look like.

Here's to a comfortable pension Mr Bullard, your hungry days finished years ago...

Why would Jimmy 'reflect' on something that is plainly untrue?

I suspect he'll laugh at itm as we all should be.

Back the boys.

OH DEAR, season not started yet and crap flying ,be it true or false .Only hope is Town can get some return from JB this season. After the initial impact he made when he joined the club he has, in the main failed to impress.

What we need to understand is that only the best players will be considered for selection come the Blackburn game. Unless there has been a seismic change in attitude since the end of last season I can't see him being up there as a cert for a MF place come the start of the season. If he comes good it will be a bonus in my book.

Jimmy has a lot to prove. Did great on loan, but since signing a very decent contract with us, has been nothing but disruptive. PJ may want to pull the wool over the fans eyes, but it's pretty clear that Jimmy was NOT fit last season and also caused the club nothing but trouble. Anyone who thinks he did well with a few 'assists' is deluded. For the weekly wage this guy is on, he should be playing - and playing well - week in week out. He didn't, because of his poor behaviour and lack of any kind of fitness. Poor permanent signing.

Clearly another newspaper spelling mistake. Bullard heading for gaol should have read Bullard heading for goal.

Think the 'typical press' comments are unfair, they obviously had a tip off so being good journos checked up on the story and when it was found to be bs

I just love his hair!! I'll have what he's using. On a separate note - Hooray!! I can return to the forum now that Bowyer has gone. Couldn't get into ITFC when that nasty piece of work was on our books. Might even re-new my season tickets.
