No New Villa Cresswell Approach
No New Villa Cresswell Approach
Thursday, 9th Aug 2012 06:00

Town have so far received no further contact from Aston Villa regarding left-back Aaron Cresswell, manager Paul Jewell has revealed. The Premier League side enquired about the 22-year-old’s availability towards the end of last month.

Jewell said: “We’ve had no contact from Aston Villa, other than the gentle enquiry that I told you about three weeks ago, and obviously they’ve been at our pre-season games.

“There’s no interest in any of our other players at the moment. That could change but I’m more interested in bring people in than moving people out.

“But in football the natural way that things happen is that some players will leave the club. We don’t need to sell, we’ve a very small squad as it is and we want to try and improve it rather than deplete it.”

If Cresswell leaving means a few million to spend on several good players, I wouldn't be upset.

While every player has their price I am encouraged that Jewell is again making positive comments about trying to improve rather than deplete the squad. Things might however change in January if Villa do not have an adequate left back and we are not challenging for the play-offs.

town obviously want the sale, but have scared off villa with talk of £4-5m, lambert is a clever dude, trust me he will be sold by the end of the month for £3.5m so PJ can get in a couple of knackered old players again

I'd rather keep him than get players like Steve Davies who will be injured 6 months of every year

Never mind 4,5 or 6m for him, we will have warnock in a swap haha, the reason there has been no contact is probably bcoz they have watched him play rather than listen to people who think he is the next roberto carlos! Lol! If villa bid 4 and above you must cash in, he isnt going to get any better IMO so yeah, good business mr jewell and co if you manage to get anything for him.

Great news. Aston Villa are such an average, mid-table team. but what Ipswich really need, if we want to get promoted, is to be prepared to spend money on players. £250'000 players are not going to get us promoted. it's the likes of Davies, and others, costing code to the £1millions that are going to give us hope. We are not a poor club! where is the £8million from Connor? Get your wallet out Evans, and get this club where it should be, being the Premier League!

Also, I do have a good feeling about this season, with the likes of Chambers, JET, Martin, Chopra who looks like he's scoring for fun recently, Luongo, Cresswell, and the youngsters coming through, such as Hewitt, Hyam, Carson and Murray. We do have a good chance this season, but we NEED TO SPEND!

Get in Wilson, Davies, and a good playmaker in the middle of the park, someone like McGugan, or Liam Palmer from Sheffield United? Just a thought. COYB!<3
