Peters to Join Bullard in Exiting Town
Peters to Join Bullard in Exiting Town

TWTD understands that in addition to the ongoing discussions with Jimmy Bullard, the Blues are in talks with Canadian midfielder Jaime Peters regarding the settlement of his contract. Speaking this morning, chief executive Simon Clegg refused to confirm nor deny that Bullard was set to leave the Blues but the 33-year-old, like Peters, is not at this morning’s open training day.

In an interview with Radio Suffolk, Clegg wouldn’t comment on Bullard’s position: “There is a lot of rumour and I’m not going to fuel that.

“The situation is that we’re having discussions with a number of players at the moment and as soon as I’ve got something concrete to say I’ll say it.

"I think it’s unhelpful from everyone’s perspective for me to fuel any rumour or comment about speculation until something concrete has happened one way or another on a number of players.”

Striker Nathan Ellington is at this morning's session with the former Wigan man believed to be keen to stay at fight for his place at Portman Road rather than move on.

Missing this morning's session through minor injuries were Andy Drury (calf) and Chieck Kourouma, while Elliott Hewitt revealed on Twitter that he was suffering with a bug: "Glad the weather is nice for the open day. Gutted I'm sick and had to go to the doctors, see you all in the season though."

Jamie Peters is a pretty poor player at this level or even lower lets be honest. Should have left years ago. As for Bullard he obviously just isnt putting in the effort cos there is no doubt he has the ability.

Good news if the club wants too move forward, great attitude and gave his all so appreciate that but not physically strong enough, if we want to have success we cant have players who just put effort in.

what a dramatic career slump for jamie.there has to be more to it why his situation is as it is now.from a (in some supporters eyes)man of the match against arsenal in the league cup to total wilderness! when we were up against it when we were relegation candidates under keene and jewells take over he seemed more part of the solution than someone who was going to be manoevered out of the club.i dont think anybody called that one.when he went out on loan i got the feeling because he never done well that there is more to this than we know.jamie is a whole hearted player who runs his nuts off for the team.surely a good player doesnt turn bad overnight !if we have a bad start jamies departure could be a nail in pj's coffin. as fans will bring these things up when things go wrong.will always remember him for his never give up attitude. best of luck for the future jamie...

i also agree with garv's post.jamie's potential was up front .i believe he came to us as a striker! he never got a proper shot at his favoured position.showed potential as a lethal finisher. what a waste

All the best Jaime. Massive shame it's not happend for you at ITFC. Not all your fault I'm sure. Big well done to Ipswich Town for giving the fans such a welcomed boost of confidence for next weeks home game against Blackburn, no other word but SHOCKING. Unless we get in 3-4 new players during this next week I fear we could be playing with the bottom 3 next season, I hope not but the team is lacking a solid starting 11 and strength in depth. Personally I think PJ will be back on SKY as a pundit in the next few months. Billy Davies anyone?

Gutted for you Jaime, always had a soft spot for you, you always gave 100% for the shirt, and I'm sorry it hasnt worked out here, hope you prove the club wrong at whichever club you end up at.

As for Jimmy, complete opposite I'm afraid, had a great opportunity and youve blown it after a great loan spell, noone else to blame but you mate.

About bloody time too. Players like Peters are 10 a penny in the SIL. All show and no end product

Two players from different ends of the footballing spectrum. One being a trier who for one reason or another ends up being treated with the wrong end of a very s****y stick. The other a very talented footballer who just can't stop playing the clown, and mistreating his body to endless binging and attributing to the downfall of others be they easily led on not.
Buying big won't get us promoted.
Having a team of players that play as a team will.
Look up the A140 for proof of that. That hurts to say.
Just how many players did Sir Bobby go out and splash big money on!
Granted he had a better academy behind him with home grown talent bursting at the seams. But we had an eye for spotting talented youngsters, and thats got to be down to a better scouting regime with scouts actually knowing what they are looking at.
Ok we all know that you have to be one of the top six premier teams to attract top talent, but it's a case that talent gets swallowed up by these bigger clubs, acting on the principle of we don't really want him but we are not going to let others have them just in case that they might actually make the grade.
With the multi-million pound deals being done for top foreign players just what chance have these youngsters of breaking through the system.

Shame to see Peter's go, on his day we all knew he had the ability but I think consistency and confidence has let him down, I wish him the best of luck and thankful for the effort and performances he did put in.

With Bullard I'm still sitting on the fence with him. He has shown us all what a quality player he is but with the Chopra drinking scandal he may be a problem in the dressing room. If we were to sell him based on the fact it would allow us to bring names like Edu and Davies to the club I'll be in favour for him to go. But if nothing in that nature I still feel he could be an asset for one more year at the club.

Also to add, I don't understand why some of you lot are trashing Ellington to the ground. He wants to stay and FIGHT for this position in the team, surely he isn't a waste as he most likely hasn't got one of the highest earning wages and he adds competition to the squad. I can only see this as a positive, yes maybe he hasn't shown us yet the quality we were expecting but he hasn't been given much of a run out.

Sorry to hear that but understandable if Jamie isn't getting close to a game.

I remember his performance with Gio's at home to Norwich 2/3 years ago ...superb ... a true blue

All the best Mate
