![]() Wednesday, 14th Nov 2001 18:25 Former Town winger Sean Friars scored for Carlisle last night in a friendly against Irish side Shelbourne. Friars left Town at the end of last season and played a few friendlies for a number of Northern Irish sides before joining Newry Town. Now he is on trial at Carlisle and looking to impress Roddy Collins, the brother of boxer Steve. The goal against Shelbourne was a cross-shot which has been claimed as a fluke by some observers. Also playing in the game was Vinnie Jones. The match was a benefit for former St Patricks star Christie McElligott who recently lost a leg as the result of a car accident.
