Trialist at Town
Trialist at Town
Tuesday, 11th Sep 2012 09:04

A mystery trialist is reported to have joined the Blues for the week as Paul Jewell continues his attempts to strengthen his central defensive options.

Southend’s Bilel Mohsni spent last week training at Playford Road, impressing and scoring in the 6-0 U21s thrashing of Cardiff City.

Weekend reports in Essex that Mohsni was due to talk to the Blues on Sunday were wide of the mark and Town look likely to wait to see how the situation develops with their preferred targets — Stoke’s Matthew Upson being high up on the list and QPR's Clint Hill is understood to have been the subject of a recent enquiry — before taking the matter further.

Mohsni was subsequently quoted as saying he was waiting to talk to the Blues regarding the outcome of his trial.

Trialists tend to come and go regularly - prior to Mohsni, Cameroonian Yann Songo’o spent time at Playford Road and Spanish keeper Aleix Manzano was at the club last week — often sent over on spec by agents with the club knowing little about them.

truthhurts, your Doctor analogy is laughable I'm afraid. To become a Doctor you need to train for 12 years which makes you an "expert". To own a football club, you simply need a huge wad of cash.

Can you please explain to me how someone who has run a hospitality business knows about football??!

People on here arent pretending to be able to run a football club, were fans hence TWTD being a FANZINE.

What is your evidence that they know how to run the club, were have we finished since they took over

And are you saying they are beyond criticism because they have tried hard to sign centre backs???!! What, they've only had 6 months or so to sort it out, sorry, isnt that long enough or somthing???!!

Why would buy a season ticket at the monent?

Why would you give added respect to the judgement of a season ticket holder paying to watch a side that finishes 15th?

The doctor comment was aimed as a comparison to the management and coaching staff. Apologies for that not being clear.

My point is simple. Why can't people simply support the club they claim to? That's not being blind. Just constant moaning doesn't help. Whoever were to come in i'm afraid would be slammed in some (same) quarters

Truthhurts, I know what your saying and I accept there are people on here like walberswick who just moan, if we won the Champions League tomorrow, he would moan we play too much long ball or somthing.

However, what I dont beleive is that the club are beyond constructive criticism. Especially when we are all paying fans who watch the product the club churn out week in week out. What is frustrating me and leading to me criticising the club is the lack of progression, and the fact that when a problem is as plain as the nose on your face, such as the need for further centre backs, the club have done nothing to address this. Whoever we bring in now wont work, in my opinion loans are not the answer. They should have signed at least 2 centre backs permanently (3 as they let Delaney go) to build partnerships, not come for 3 months and then buggar off back to their parent club. That wont lead to promotion, in my humble opinion.

That's not a humble opinion. I agree loans aren't ideal. They will work, however, if they were to become permanant.

I look at some clubs that have been relegated to league one, yet still got sell out crowds before gaining promotion to, ultimately, the premiership. Our fans would never ever be that good. Sorry.

We do need a few signings which is obvious as you say. But maybe the players we went for wanted too much money in terms of fee and wages. Cold be a reason. I would prefer us not to go bust...

very entertaining few posts the fact is all of us on this site know where the prob lies and we mostly could do a better job beacuse we all would have signed cbs 6 mnths ago pj has my support but patience is fading WE SHOULDNT NEED LOANS

I'm sorry. The club don't suddenly wake up one day and suddenly think weneed defenders. They would have tried. Ok not enough were got, but to think there was no effort is naive in the extreme.

And no. None of us could do better. Unless you're basing it on computer games!!

truthhurts, none of us are saying the club havent tried to get central defenders, what is worrying that after 6 months of trying (probably a year as its hardly a new problem!) they haven't managed it. Are we supposed to turn round if we have another disapointing season and say "oh well I'm sure they tried"?

Of course they should put the effort in, its their bloody job which we pay them a good wage for!
BTW I dont base my opinion on computer games but 25 yars watching ITFC and football in general.

Going round in circles here. Basically contradicting yourselve by moaning that we have no one, yet admit they tried. May have escaped peoples mindsets but you can't hold a gun to a club or players head to get them to sell or sign.

We will be ok...

Truth hurts - reading your posts you do seem to be calm and try to argue a point articuteley but your make a whole host of assumptions, especially about those who post regularly on this site about there ability to run a club. Your argument is based on the fact that you believe that none of us have the money, inclination or aptitude to do this and therefore cannot critisise or recommend ways forward.

If this really us your argument then 1. There are a fair few on here that do not fit into your assumption and 2. Even if your assumption is correct we do not live under a military junta.

Just accept that opinions are just that and that there is, due to the sheer number of people posting here, people from all spectrums of life - good, bad, intelligent/not, rich and poor!

Truthhursts, how does criticising the club for not signing centrebacks after a year of trying being a condradiction? I think thats a fair and reasonable criticism.

That doesnt mean I hate the club or for that matter pj (if you care to read my previous blogs my criticism is levelled at Chief Exec/owner level) who I think is building a decent squad. Lets just agree to disagree.

truthhurts added 22:33 - Sep 11
Yeah fair point and i agree wholeheartingly with what you just said. But no matter what walk of life people come from doesn't dictate their support, or distinct lack off in some cases.

Don't mistake that with me saying everything about the club is perfect. I just firmly believe success only comes if we all pull in the same direction. That includes the fans. Is that so wrong?

Talbs77. So you dislike the owner but admit he supplies the funds that, in
your words, is resulting in a decent squad.

The very same owner saved us from disappearing of the face of the earth.

Yes. Contradiction.

No I totally agree mate, we all need to stay behind the team, I actually think were have fantastic supporters on the whole and I'm proud to call myself one of them.

Hopefully not too much sarcasism in your comment there!?

Been a good debate tonight. No hard feelings guys...

Truthhurts in reply to your last message, pj has hardly had millions this summer to construct a promising squad (with the exception fo the aforementioned CB problem) so no condradiction there. He certainly hasnt been given the funding previous managers have aprtly due to FFP. Plus I dont dislike ME and acknowledge what he has done for the club. You just dont get it do you....you are able to criticise issues at the club constructively without wanting to cut anyones heads off..

By the way, it helps in your replies if you put who your addressing your response to if its directly.

truthhurts added 23:09 - Sep 11
Talbs77. In an earlier post, only a few above these, you clearly state your issue is with the 'owners level'. That would be ME would it not? And you wonder why i say you contradict. Wow

Can we please stop saying you have to be a season ticket holder to have a valid opinion!

Having been raised in Ipswich my family moved to Devon and since 1971 I have travelled all over the UK and Europe watching the Town play travelling many thousands of miles and no doubt spending more money than I care to think about!! I currently live and work in Portugal, am a club member and follow Town avidly. I miss going to games but feel after 40 odd years I have the right & knowledge to express an opinion.

Just because you live in or near Ipswich and hold a season ticket, it doesn't mean you are the only people able/capable of expressing a viewpoint. After all isn't that what this site is here for???
