JET's Time Will Come
Friday, 21st Sep 2012 06:00

Blues boss Paul Jewell says Jay Emmanuel-Thomas’s time will come despite the ex-Arsenal man dropping out of the first team in the first few weeks of the season. The 21-year-old started the first five games of the campaign but has been on the bench for the last two matches.

Jewell said: “He didn’t play with confidence in the first few games so we took him out of the team, but his time will come again.

“He’s got ability, as everybody knows, he’s just got to try to be more consistent with that ability. He knows that. He’s only a young lad and he knows he’s got to add consistency to his game to become a better player.”

The Londoner’s inconsistency led Jewell to say he “goes from a world beater to a panel beater” last season. At the moment the Blues boss says he’s somewhere in the middle: “He’s in between the two at the moment.

“His time will come and I’m sure that in time, once he gets that consistency, that experience, he’ll become a better player.”

Jewell believes the former England U19 international, who may get his chance against Charlton with Paul Taylor and Michael Chopra both suffering injuries in the Wolves game, has the desire required to succeed: “The hunger question is because he has that laid back attitude of sometimes being carefree.

“We can’t all wear sackcloth and ashes, that’s my job! But he does care, he’s just a bit more laid back than one or two other people.”
