Sukur Says No to Town
Sukur Says No to Town

Inter Milan's Turkish international striker Hakan Sukur has said he will not be coming to Town. George Burley said yesterday he had made an enquiry regarding taking the out-of-favour frontman on loan and today David Sheepshanks said he was "not over optimistic but I'm hopeful" of landing the player.

However, Sukur says he wants to stay at Inter until February, despite receiving what he has called a number of good offers.

He re-interated his statement from yesterday which stated he had no knowledge of any interest from Town. Despite this he confirmed he would not be coming here: "I will definitely not go to Fulham or Ipswich and a move back to Turkey this season is also impossible."

Sheepshanks had earlier said that he hoped contacts made with Inter since the UEFA Cup draw would help Town land the ex-Galatasaray man. This doesn't seem to have been the case.

George Burley will therefore have to look elsewhere for a striker with Aris Salonica's Greek international goalscorer Angelos Charisteas recently watched by Town scout Simon Hunt.
