Martin Not Speculating on New Boss Saturday, 27th Oct 2012 06:01 Lee Martin has refused to be drawn on who he would like to see replace ex-manager Paul Jewell at Portman Road. The 25-year-old winger or midfielder said: “There is going to be widespread speculation about who takes over but we’ll just have to leave it up to the owner to decide. “As players we just get on with it really. It’s part of football and you don’t have much time before the next game comes round. “Most of the players have experienced it before. We just have to work hard and concentrate on trying to make sure we beat Sheffield Wednesday. “It’s just like any workplace — some people might not be happy but the ones who now have a second chance might create a bit more togetherness. You never know.” Martin was asked if he felt Jewell’s departure could have a negative effect on preparations for the clash with the Owls and whether it would make a ready-made excuse in the event of another home defeat. He replied: “No, not really. We can only make the same excuses so many times. It’s all about getting points, otherwise we are going to be in serious trouble. “We went bottom on Tuesday and if ever we needed an eye-opener that was it. We’ve had good training sessions since then and the boys seem together.” While Martin waits to see who succeeds Jewell, he added: “It’s a great opportunity for whoever comes in. Without being disrespectful to Paul a change can work in your favour. “We tried everything, we worked so hard to try to get the results and it just wasn’t happening. Sometimes it needs to fall to someone else to try to make it happen — it might take a new way of approaching the games in order to freshen up the place. “Players who have been around the fringes might have a new lease of life and get their opportunity. “The thing with a team is that there are so many players to manage and everyone’s different, aren’t they? It’s just understanding each and every player. “Sometimes people have their own approach and players don’t respond to it. As far as the dressing room is concerned I don’t think it needs a massive kick up the backside. It’s just that sometimes people respond to different things.”
