Orr Keen on Permanent Switch
Wednesday, 14th Nov 2012 12:15

New signing Bradley Orr says his loan move to the Blues from Blackburn is very much with a view to a permanent switch if all goes well. The 30-year-old’s loan means he will be at Portman Road at least until January 26th.

Speaking in an interview with Ipswich Player, Orr says he has previously been close to playing for Mick McCarthy: “The manager has a proven track record at this level and the one above and is a massive factor in me coming to Ipswich.

“I have spoken to him in the past when there was a possibility that I could have signed for him. It didn't work out then but I’m delighted it has this time.

“Having spoken to the manager a couple of times recently and knowing what Ipswich is all about anyway, it was an easy decision to make. I didn’t need to speak to anyone else in the game. I just jumped in my car and came down here!

“I know the club is at the wrong end of the table but that doesn’t bother me. With the manager here, I think it’s exciting times for Ipswich and I’m glad to be part of it.”

In terms of the longer term, the right-back, whose Blackburn contract is up in the summer of 2014, added: “Firstly I want to do well for Ipswich. If that happens, then I might get the chance to extend that stay. If it doesn't, I will be sent back to Blackburn.

“We have talked about me staying. That’s the plan and I’d certainly be interested in a permanent move.

“If the manager and the powers that be want that to happen, I could be here longer than the loan date but it will be down to how well I do here and how much I can help the club. My priority is doing as well as I can for Ipswich Town.”

Having fallen out of favour at Ewood Park since Henning Berg took over as boss, he says he felt he needed to move on: “There were a few things going on in the upper echelons of the club at Blackburn and I wanted to get out on loan.

“Once I heard of Ipswich’s interest I was really keen to come down here. Thankfully we’ve managed to get something sorted and I’m absolutely delighted to be here.

“I know Ipswich well from playing here a number of times in the past and I know that the club is steeped in history. It’s a big club and it’s an honour to be here.”

awesome this is great! MM seems to me he knows what he's doing Orr he has been listening to the fans. Haha! A much needed RB and he's a good player too at this level.
Moving Edwards to midfield is great at last and also playing Murphy up front.
Even think this new left back Youga will be ok.
I have a funny feeling itfc could finally be going in the right direction.
Bring on Leicester on sat I will be there to watch the newbes in action.

WeWereZombies: I would imagine that the odds are now a lot longer on ITFC getting relegated.

Pleased with this loan signing. You wait for ages for a defender to come along
and two sign in a week. MM clearly adds something to the attractiveness of playing for town.

Hope he plays as well as he talks....Welcome Bradley

Its manager, manager, manager rather than location, location, location.

Players will go anywhere for the right manager just shows how little Jewell was thought of by players.

Presumably a loan deal for Frimpong is now dead in the water, unless MM offloads one of the existing loanees. Can't see Wellens coming back now?

Great start by MM in sorting out the teams major problems. Onward and upward.

Must be careful with all these loan signings to remember that "A House is not a Motel"

I don't mind signing players on loan like this when they really want to be here and even suggest staying permanently, rather than your Henderson's saying how they want to be first choice somewhere else!

Yes, time to make Portman Road a fortress again, or even 'The Castle'

ArnieMsBigToe: But we still have a problem with our goal difference, we need to win our next seven games 7-0 which would improve it by...remind me, seven by seven is...

Hey Micky you're so fine,
We almost have a real back line,
Hey Micky!

Seriously - this kind of signing should have happened long. Changes since MM arrived take a weight off my mind. Welcome, Bradster!

I'm happy with a loan if theres a chance of permnant deal in next window. much better than other clubs young talent that could hold back our own.

His tweets suggest that he will not be returning to BRFC so hopefully come January 2013 he will sign permanently if terms can be agreed (I say "if" because Cleggy might cock that bit up)
