Orr Keen on Permanent Switch Wednesday, 14th Nov 2012 12:15 New signing Bradley Orr says his loan move to the Blues from Blackburn is very much with a view to a permanent switch if all goes well. The 30-year-old’s loan means he will be at Portman Road at least until January 26th.
Speaking in an interview with Ipswich Player, Orr says he has previously been close to playing for Mick McCarthy: “The manager has a proven track record at this level and the one above and is a massive factor in me coming to Ipswich.
“I have spoken to him in the past when there was a possibility that I could have signed for him. It didn't work out then but I’m delighted it has this time.
“Having spoken to the manager a couple of times recently and knowing what Ipswich is all about anyway, it was an easy decision to make. I didn’t need to speak to anyone else in the game. I just jumped in my car and came down here!
“I know the club is at the wrong end of the table but that doesn’t bother me. With the manager here, I think it’s exciting times for Ipswich and I’m glad to be part of it.”
In terms of the longer term, the right-back, whose Blackburn contract is up in the summer of 2014, added: “Firstly I want to do well for Ipswich. If that happens, then I might get the chance to extend that stay. If it doesn't, I will be sent back to Blackburn.
“We have talked about me staying. That’s the plan and I’d certainly be interested in a permanent move.
“If the manager and the powers that be want that to happen, I could be here longer than the loan date but it will be down to how well I do here and how much I can help the club. My priority is doing as well as I can for Ipswich Town.”
Having fallen out of favour at Ewood Park since Henning Berg took over as boss, he says he felt he needed to move on: “There were a few things going on in the upper echelons of the club at Blackburn and I wanted to get out on loan.
“Once I heard of Ipswich’s interest I was really keen to come down here. Thankfully we’ve managed to get something sorted and I’m absolutely delighted to be here.
“I know Ipswich well from playing here a number of times in the past and I know that the club is steeped in history. It’s a big club and it’s an honour to be here.”

Some people might say oh no not another loan player! But the big difference is that these players seem as though they genuinley want to do well for us with a view of a permament move, lets hope they play as well as they speak.

Good start ... unlike hendersons 'my future is at West ham' from day one, we have a player who wants to play for us rather than just trying to get fit or fill his time. Also good to hear that MM is already talking about a permanent deal. Refreshing. Furthermore, we have signed a right-back ... remarkable!!!

Strikes - pushing the boat out on that one :-) The mood has definatley improved 10 fold on this site and also at the club. Mick has come in, quickly assessed what is needed, motivated the current team, got them organised and playing for each other. Also remember that Mick is a manager not a wizard and talk of promotion is far fetched, although I admit not impossible. Let's get out of the bottom three and then see how Mick get's on with his first transfer window. Happy days are returning to PR.

Everything he said suggests that the club has been sold in a much better light than before. Maybe Mick has asked to have a much more forward role in the process behind signings? Equally it's been a while since a loan signing has made a comment about genuinely wanting a permanent move, rather than just wanting to get some game time and get fit. Great news, welcome to the club, think with signings like this we could become a difficult team to beat at least.

Not many comments on were this leaves Chambers who for me has been a big disappointment . Hopefully Smith will be given a run in the side to build on his Burnley performance

Heard him speak immediately after the night Blackburn were relegated. Impressed by the sincerity of his support for Kean, which took some guts on a night like that- you could the anti-Kean element (majority?) loud and clear during the game. if he shows such commitmemt to us could be a valuable signing and been part of a championship promotion team. (Hope he has some QPR contacts still so he can persuade them to let us keep DJ longer!).

starting to restore some pride in our beloved Ipswich, Just shows that when you chose a manager its as much about how they are respected by players and how much desire there is to play in their team as it is their coaching and tactical skill. We noe can see players on the bench who are able to change a game as well as players who can win it in the first place. Some credit to Evans and Clegg for calling Mick and getting him to join us.

Since Big Mick took over there has been a wave of optimism right across the club and I'm loving it :)

Finally a manager who realises that to get the best out of the team, players need to play in the positions that suit their skills and ability. Welcome aboard Mr Orr and no doubt Carlos has already sent you and 'Super Mick' a thank you card!!

One huge change at the Club - we now have a real Manager again - to follow on from a few previous 'legends'. Hasn't taken long for him to recognise we need a RB - and we've got one !! Easy when you know how - obviously. COYB - ONWARDS and UPWARDS.

Sounds like MM has a general change of formation in mind and buying or getting this player on loan just proves it, a proper right back!! something we haven't had in seasons - long may the change of guard and formation start! - best of luck Bradley.

This is a very good signing in my opinion. MM is proving that football is a simple game. Round pegs in round holes. By signing Orr for a while, it opens up Edwards to continue the good work he did on Saturday in his natural position on the right of midfield. In fact I would go as far to say that Saturday was the best I saw Edwards play in a blue shirt. The fact he has also already come out and say he would be interested in signing permanently in January if things work is also encouraging as it sounds like Henning Berg doesnt fancy him. Makes me wonder why oh why pj wasnt signing players and playing them in their natural position, but I spose its all in the past, time to move forwards.

Does anyone else really want Ireland to win tonight?
BigAlwasmyhero added 20:52 - Nov 14
Take it from someone who reads the Irish newspapers, our manager will not be taking over the Republic job any time soon. The Irish FA do not have the money to change the current manager until his contract expires or even pay the sort of wage (or bonus) we are paying. Look at the facts, the country is bust, how do you think it would go down having to pay someone off with a few million Euro. Just relax and enjoy the fact we now have a man in position to sort our club out!

Great, - yet another ageing loanee ,what we need is young up and coming talent, not has-beens seeing out their careers. This is why the likes of Rhodes, Trotter and Garvan are all at rival clubs. Nothing changes.
