Brown Excited to Be Joining Blues
Monday, 25th Feb 2013 12:59

New signing Reece Brown says he’s excited to be joining the Blues on loan from Manchester United until the end of the season, subject to the paperwork being rubber-stamped. The 21-year-old, the brother of ex-England man Wes, will wear the number 21 shirt while at Portman Road.

Speaking in an interview with Ipswich Player Brown, who has previously spent time on loan with Coventry, Oldham and Bradford, said: “This is a big challenge for me and I’m excited to be signing for Ipswich.

"It’s a big club with great facilities and I’m looking forward to meeting all the lads and getting started.

“I’ve played here once before - in an U15 academy showcase game for United - so it’s nice to be back here again and I’m ready to try and prove myself at Ipswich.

“I’m still only 21 and getting experience at a Championship club like Ipswich is good for me and it’s all part of my education.”

He says the move went through very fast: “The deal got done pretty quickly and it was a bit of a whirlwind really.

“I first heard of the interest about two days ago and I didn’t really know too much about it to be honest.

"I just came in from training at United and then I spoke to the gaffer [Sir Alex Ferguson], who told me I was going down to Ipswich for a few months and things went from there really.

“There’s a few of the lads here that I know already. I know David [McGoldrick] from playing with him at Coventry earlier this season and I also know Frank Nouble from playing for England youth with him.

“I obviously know Lee Martin as well, from when he was at United, so it will be good to see a few familiar faces and hopefully that will help me to settle in.”

The Mancunian says he's out to emulate the achievements of older brother Wes, who keeps a close watch on his progress: "My brother keeps an eye on how I'm doing and it's good to know that someone with his experience is looking out for me.

"He's had a great career and he will often ask for the DVDs of my games to see where I went right and wrong in my performances.

"It's great to have him offering bits of advice here and there. People often compare me to my brother but I think we are quite individual and I want to be known for Reece, not Wes."

Yet again, negative comments from town supporters, im sure MM knows what he needs to strenghten our squad, although from the stands it shows we have little creativity in midfield, and the one player we do sign gets an injury in his home debut, but you want to remeber we are in a relegation fight and having a strong defence with multiple players challenging for those positions is what we need right now!!! Keep the faith!! COYB

I must say you lot on here are easily pleased with yet another pointless loan we need midfielders as what we have are useless and Martin and Edwards who cant cross or play a forward pass and you lot think I am negative please tell me of something positive about this team with the except for Chambers and Smith

Hope he is better than the last Reece (Wabara) we had from Manchester!

Good to see that orange runs in the family. Is he our first orange-skinned player?

Let's play 8 at the back with N'Daw and Hyam as a defensive shield....

I cannot believe some of the scathing remarks regarding Reece Brown joining our club! The club is at its lowest ebb at the moment and there is no quick fix.If we do manage to survive this season I really do believe that things will drastically improve . Let's just all hang in there and support the decisions that are being made.

Tbh dunno why we have signed him, yes he's a good young player but our back 4 have just started playing well and kisnorbo is a good back shown with his good performance at Villa, unless we plan to sign him permanently in the future I dunno why we have him?

Ipswich fans are honestly pathetic.... we sign a good young player to cover for injuries and to come in as a natural right back and all they do is moan....... you all live in the glory days still...... not in the present days, grow up and support him! COYB!

Are you Reece Wabara? Can't be as crap as him though! Seriously don't need him,who is sacrificed for him now out of the 5 domestic loanees? If he got a creative player could maybe understand, but this signing is pointless! And I'll stand by that comment!

Mick will play 'organised difficult to beat hoofball'. Get used to it. Should have got Holloway when we had chance

Unless Chambers/Smith/or even Steadman gets injured he won't get a look in and even that would be unfair on Hewitt if Steadman picks up an injury.

Algarvefan (and others) — Bang on: correct. MM's strategy is to grind out survival in this league. As others have pointed out he has boosted the attack with January loans, as attacking players are important when your match day tactic is to defend at all costs. With his end of season strategy in mind he needs to ensure he doesn't run out of defenders towards the end of the season. With his experience he'll know how many defenders in reserve he needs. Let's face it, of your intention is to defend to the end you'd look pretty silly if you ran out of defenders.
Starting next season (in which ever league) with a solid defence is the best way to start a new season.

Welcome Reece. As this now means we have 6 domestic loans and considering ManUre recalled him from Cov due to him not being played, then I guess Brown will be on the bench at worst, meaning one of our other domestic loans missing out, but who? Are Kisnorbo or Stearman going back? Personally I think McLean will miss out and Brown may come in for N'Daw or Hyam

just for the record I was not being negative. .... just commenting on the irony of his comment. ... which I said was a load of rubbish not the player!

AND i expressed a hope that he is in to shake up the midfield and allow more attacking options through there. .. rather than messingvwith our solid back four

others are just questioning the wisdom of an 8th loan. ..

that's all

sorry if I came across wrong :)

PYBlue - It's someone to carve out chances - a creative midfielder and a guy who's like greased lightning that can hold onto the ball and who can put a cross in and plant it on someones head is what we really need.
We have the strikers, we need to feed them.
bohslegend - what took you so long!

Steelmonkey?? What took me so long??? erm....

A creative midfielder and a guy who is like greased lightening down the wing.

If these players were available there's no certainty that they would come to us. Even so, I still think MM has done exactly the right thing in his approach. Make us harder to beat! At the same time as being harder to beat we have picked up some serious points as we attempt to AVOID RELEGATION to League 1! Sorry about the Caps - needed to be emphasised, because some on here seem to think we are playing Champions League at the moment and we need players to play through the likes of Ambrosini, Pique and any other world class player you can think of.
