ITFC Charitable Trust Offering Futsal Scholarships
ITFC Charitable Trust Offering Futsal Scholarships
Friday, 7th Jun 2013 14:05

Futsal scholarships are now available through the ITFC Charitable Trust.

Fast-paced five-a-side game futsal is the only form of indoor football approved by FIFA, UEFA and The FA with over two million players taking part regularly.

Futsal, which rewards good technique and game intelligence, is globally recognised as one of the fastest-growing indoor sports with many of the 11-a-side game’s greats, such as Ronaldo, Fabregas, Zidane and Pele, citing it as behind the development of their skills.

Scholars will learn the game and play regular midweek fixtures in a regionalised league against from the likes of Southend, Brighton and Hove Albion, Crystal Palace and Chelsea.

The Trust's experienced and qualified coaches will be able to help players to progress, improve technically and mentally, as well as learn new training techniques. They will also train once a week at Playford Road.

The scholarship also includes a full-time (three-day week), two-year education package which will start this September and incorporates:

-BTEC Level 3 Extended Diploma in Sport, worth up to three A Levels, accessed by suitable GCSE grades.

-Allows access to university and further study.

-Opens the door to a coaching career in football or futsal.

-Opportunity to gain Level 1 and 2 coaching qualifications.

The Trust’s coaches can train you, educate you and tend to your individual needs — and you should still make your evening training sessions for your local club and will be available every weekend for your competitive matches.

The course is based at Portman Road and the BTEC level 3 is provided by VLUK — which is an online based learning platform.

Sounds pretty good. Is there any scope for these scholars to be taken on by the Academy or is it entirely separate?

It is entirely separate - although we have some lads on the programme who are currently in the England Futsal set up, so there is scope to make it to the professional game.
