New Wolves Boss Wants to Keep Stearman
Wednesday, 12th Jun 2013 09:58

New Wolves manager Kenny Jackett wants to keep hold of former Blues loanee Richard Stearman, according to tabloid reports this morning. However, the player himself is said to be less than keen to play at League One level and would prefer a return to Portman Road, where he spent a successful spell during the second half of last season.

Boss Mick McCarthy was delighted with Stearman’s displays while at Portman Road but wouldn’t be drawn into discussing his possible return on a permanent basis with the 25-year-old having a season remaining on his contract at Molineux.

Speaking in April, McCarthy said: “He’s a Wolves player and I wouldn’t even begin to talk about it because it would be unprofessional and unfair.

“What I would say is that he has done very, very well. He has been excellent. But he’s a loan player, he’s not my player. Wolves might want to take him back, somebody else might fancy him the way he’s played for me.”

The right-back or central defender is likely to command a not insignificant fee, while matching his Wolves wages might also prove a stumbling block for Town with McCarthy’s budget understood to be tight and the Blues looking in the main at Bosman free signings this summer.

Scotland international Kirk Broadfoot, who is expected to leave Blackpool and become a free agent at the end of the month, has been linked with Town on a number of occasions and like Stearman plays at right-back and centre-half.

Just for record Phil - I find the "voting system" on here very frustrating ... there is no record of who has voted you down (or up ... occasionally!) and so you cannot connect the votes with the comments that explain them.
Is there any way the identity of voters can be made public please ... like our posts are??

Seeing who down votes a post would be horrific, everyone on here would get tetchy about it etc etc...

Walberswick would love that....

But am I right to presume that those who bother to down or up vote also add a comment ... so the comments and votes can be tied up?? And the points in the comments will make clear which part of the posts have been up or down voted?

Some people just down vote a post because loads of people have done so, it doesn't mean they have bothered to comment as well.

Stearman deserves to be playing Championship football. I thought he was a different class for us ... and frankly shocked that Wolves allowed him to go out on loan to a fellow relegation competitor (at the time). For me, it's essential that we sign Stearman, although accept wages could be a stumbling block.

@RaymondovicBlue

I've no problem with the voting being anonymous but at present the figures given are the net outcome of the votes. A hundred for and a hundred against would show as zero. Could we have the gross figures for and against please Phil?

You thought your ups and downs were anonymous but apparently the voting data is analysed by the US Prism spy programme.

Blimey were all a happy bunch on here today!!

For the record, couldnt give a toss about the voting system on here, who cares if you get a plus/minus, footballs about opinions.

Getting back on topic, I think the stearman deal could happen but think it will go down to the wire, will be a cat and mouse transfer this one.

Agree with Talbs77, couldn't give a monkeys about the voting; what matters is putting across ideas about ITFC and how as supporters; we can help them. I know that Phil ensures much of the feelings shown on this forum, are made known at the club; so lets keep them succinct. Most importantly I hope we do obtain Stearman and my parting comment would be.........I HATE CLOSE SEASON. COYB

Lennyboy thanks for the words mate and totally agree with I too hate close season.

Last night I was forced to watch speedway on SS1, it left me traumatised and visably shaken, it was awful and I find it upsetting typing it now.

Hopefully Stearman will put a transfer request in - be a good if we can keep the same back four but alas cannot see it happening.
Speedway!!!! has to be more boring than F1? sorry to here that Talbs, August will soon be here.

RaymondBlue. I entirely agree with your comments but like my serious comment I see you got two negatives. People on here either lack intelligence or do not understand intelligent comment!

I would love to see Stearman at PR but it is clear that agents and Wolves are going about their busines as one would expect by trying to maximise the price for a very good player. MM is a wise man who will get his man if the price is right and fair. We must be patient and I believe the Brown story could be a little subtle om MM's part.

Thanks Billblue
My problem is that I agree with Walberswick about the difficulty of trying to compete with Bosnans (albeit good ones by a good manager) but I certainhly don't agree with his summary about a bottom half - and I don't want to support the "keep it" ending either. So how do I vote? And how do people know that I have? Like others have suggested - I don't really worry about the votes ... but if we are going to have this system I was trying to suggest a way of making it more helpful not less?

Hopefully this story is now so old that not many will bother to read this and so I may get away with no negative votes !!
